The Best Christmas Present for Coco

Merry Christmas Coco!!! Coco is our 100lb Cane Corso.. A few months ago she was playing with Santino (our other Cane Corso) and hurt herself.. She was limping for a few days but then started to act normal, so we just thought she had Hyper Extended her knee.. About a month ago she was running and hurt the same leg again.. We gave it a few days to got better but it never did.. Poor girl couldn’t walk properly, she was limping and keeping that leg off the ground as much as she could. She couldn’t run or play with Santino or the rest of the pack, it was just very sad to see her that way.. We took her to Dr.Garcia (our Vet) and he said “she had torn the ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) in her knee which is very painful for her.”. After doing some research both Dr.Garcia and us think a TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) Surgery would be best for her.. So Yesterday we had the surgery..

You can see Dr.Garcia from Paws & Claws Vet on the picture operating Coco.
It took about four hours and Dr.Garcia says it went great!! YAY!! Now its 6-8 weeks of nurturing and giving her a lots of love. For the next few days she isnt aloud to walk, so Jesse has to carry her out to the grass to let her go to the bathroom.. She already has Cabin Fever but its all for the better.. I cant wait for her to get back to normal, she is such a Happy Playful dog and loves to go to the beach and to go hiking.. Soon ill get my Beach Buddy back.. hahaha

goodluck coco
Dear Coco, I wish you very fast recovery, I would wish much more in my own language but not sure if you would understand :) So I hope your "mom" will take care of you and send you big hugs from the Czech Rep :)) Get well soon!
Hey Zuzka! I'm a vet tech and I see dogs with their ACL's torn a lot. The snow and ice from where i'm from (South Dakota) make for a perfect situation to make knees give out. Its long road of therapy but she'll come out great. You chose the best option for her breed and weight. It's important that she uses the leg but not too much at first! Good luck, I'm sure you'll be a great momma!
Good Luck Coco. My Idgie girl tore hers and she will limp from time to time if she jumps (like a pounce) wrong. A good nights sleep and she is as fine as frog hair the next day.
Poor puppy...Wishing her a speedy recovery!
cuddles for dear coco.
I wish coco the best in her recovery :)
So Coco will now be a bionic dog! I will do a couple healing Burpees for the pooch's recovery! --Chris
get well soon Coco!
I like your idea Chris :) Reminds me of Erin :)
Poor baby! Glad she got the surgery she needed. It's so heartbreaking to see dogs hurt! Hope she feels better soon. Give her lots of petpets from us. :)
Best wishes for good healing Coco!
Big kisses from me and my Siberians...must be hard for Coco to take it easy for such a long time. My Douschka had to rest for 5 days after a surgery and that was difficult already. We will dedicate a Christmas run to Coco.
May she heal fast!
Poor coco. My choc lab just had that surgery about 3 months ago and today you could never even tell he was hurt.
My Milo (lab/doberman mix) has a partial tear in his CCL (cranial cruciate ligament) diagnosed in October. I've been restricting his activity since. And I think I've finally saved up enough money to get his surgery done. I'm going to an animal hospital that does both TPLO and TTA surgery. TPLO is more expensive, but i'm leaning toward that one since it will be better for his breed and activity level. plus he's only 2 y/o so he has a better chance of that surgery being successful. not looking forward to the 3-4 months more of restricted activity for him post-surgery, but it will be worth it again when we can go back to playing and running around.
Best wishes & BIG HUG for Coco, I pray for her! Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Zuzka & for your family too.
So how is she doing? An update on Coco's recovery, please! --Chris
