gut health has been a battle of mine for a long time (or forever should I say?). it is only recently that I am figuring out things. why? because of internet spreading the word and awareness, books being available, etc. and simply because science does evolve.
I love Dr.Axe (healing leaky gut) and recently reading The GutBliss by Dr.Robynne Chutkan.
I am getting there, slowly, but is it complicated to find out what the issue is and therefore what solutions to use.A riddle.
In my country (Switzerland), the supper (last meal of the day) is called “souper”, which litterally means having a soup !
I like soup, but tend to swallow too much air and feel very full and discomfort, so I have gone away from eating soup these last years. however I am going back to it recently because of bone broth. I used to have tons of recipe books for soup and would love to get back to it, especially I have a large powerful blender and juice extractor underused. I will definitely look into Angela’s site and book.

    Hi Zuzka!

Can you do a post or video about proper breathing in case of exercising and yoga? When to inhale or when to exhale? I saw one article about diaphram breathing, but you didn’t wrote about inhaling and exhaling. I think it’s a useful topic to talk about. I know you say in stretch and toning/power yoga videos when to inhale, but it’s not the same, and it would be nice if we know why we do it. 🙂

    Thanks! 🙂

Breathing during exercise should be natural to you. I have posted an article a while ago about how to breathe during my workouts: https://zuzkalight.com/workouts/breathing-better-during-my-workouts/

When it comes to yoga, there are some teachers who like to stick to rigid rules, based on one theory or another… you can find conflicting opinions even in the yoga community. I prefer everyone to find a way of breathing that feels natural to them.

Just remember some basics like breathing deeply through your nose often and practicing diaphragm breathing to calm yourself down, or exhaling forcefully through your teeth and tensing your abs during some power moves such as the kettlebell swing, or using Valsalva maneuver (bracing your abdominal wall and holding your breath briefly through an explosive move to avoid injury).

When doing yoga it’s good to breathe deeply and calmly but it should feel natural to you. That’s my opinion.

Q – when running, what is the best pattern of breathing ?
I tend to think that I “can’t run” because I simply can’t breathe!…. (keep me out of water, therefore..lol!)
What works best and why ?
thanks for directing us to that 2015 link, Z

this was I think my favorite coffee talk ever!! I am going to do the soup cleanse and then do the Zuzka meal plan afterward (I’ve already purchased it and have been reading it over). I’m also going to get one of those cooler bags! I love it!!! Zuzka, you are always so fresh and kind and beautiful. Keep up the good work and keep sharing your wonderful life and knowledge with us. We are so blessed to have you!!

Thanks for this great talk, Z, and thanks for talking about gut health.

I’ve been following you a long time and have gone through ups and downs with progress.

I currently workout with you 5x a week and my diet is really clean (with very occasional cheats and by cheats I mean a bit more fruit or legume flour pasta or an extra spoonful of coconut oil).

I’m finding that while I feel a bit more fit, I don’t look it and the scale hasn’t moved in a year or more.

My gut is healthier than it was a few years ago but I’m think I have to do a full on candida type diet as that is the only way (when I did it before) I saw any weight loss.

My diet is mostly primal/paleo but I think I need to cut fruit (of which I eat very little) and dairy (also very little). I recently cut coffee (!!!) and wine (which was infrequent).

It’s very frustrating because I work hard with little results and I know I’m basically doing everything right.
I’m 44 and I’m guessing there’s an age factor as well as possibly hormonal (I have PCOS) but my weight has been really stuck for a long long time. I don’t care much about the scale but I am really heavy on the scale and that won’t budge and I don’t see any major results in terms of muscle gain, fat loss, etc. Frustrating.

Anyway, I appreciate you mentioning gut stuff and love the soups AND cooler bags, awesome Z!

HI Zuzka! I don’t know where to make this suggestion – but can you add “tags” to your videos? 🙂 I’ve been trying to find the video where you recommended a natural toxin free sunscreen and I can’t seem to. It would be so helpful!

Zuzka, I’d like to know what you think of the Whole 30 reset? I struggle with my guts, even if I eat very healthy and exercise…. have tried to do it but it is hard to keep it up with my crazy busy lifestyle… do you believe in such “resets”? I’d be interested in your views on this, thanks a million
