One Day Juice Cleanse
Nutrition | February 18, 2014
Juice cleanses has become very popular over the past few years for the amount of benefits they have to offer. One of the major benefits of juicing is the fact that it allows you to consume wide varieties of raw fruits and veggies even if you don’t enjoy eating them whole. For example, I would never munch on raw red beats, or ginger, but I enjoy their flavor a lot in my juice recipes. Juicing raw veggies and fruit also preserves all of their vitamins, enzymes, and minerals so it’s actually a great way to get in your daily those of veggies.
I include one day juice cleanse here and there into my own fitness regimen as part of my rest and recovery days. I don’t suggest to juice on those days when you do an intense workout or any demanding activity. Make sure that you have enough time to relax and enjoy a mellow day. For all of you who are following my ZGym’s weekly workout program, you guys can try this cleanse on Wednesdays or Sundays. My day juice day is Sunday.
If you are afraid that you’ll be starving on your one day juice cleanse, don’t be. These drinks are surprisingly filling so even tho you won’t have anything solid for the entire day, you are not going to feel hungry or sluggish. There are 7 nutrient dense juice drinks that I have on my cleanse day, and I have the recipes and tips for you right here:
1. Juicing tips – watch this video about different type of juicers
2. Morning Juice Cleanse – watch the video to see what I drink in the morning
What I do in the morning before I have my breakfast juice is a simple lemon water cleanse. Heat up 1 full glass of filtered water and add juice of 1 fresh lemon. The drink should be hot like a tea.
For Breakfast I have a rich green juice and for my mid-morning snack I make this awesome sour – sweet juice out of red beat, carrots, and lemon.
Lunch time!
For lunch I prefer rich, creamy and sweet fruit smoothie out of banana, strawberries, orange, and spinach. You can have any mixture of fruit you like, but don’t forget to add at least some greens for extra nutrients.
My early-afternoon drink is veggie/fruit mix with more emphasis on veggies. The one piece of fruit is there just to sweeten it up a little.
Dinner time!
I have a late-afternoon juice before my dinner which is mixture of green leaves, green veggies, apple, and lemon juice.
For dinner I prefer something more soothing, and by that time I’m usually kind of over the juices anyways so I make myself a home made nut milk sweetened by dates and flavored with vanilla extract.
I hope you’ll all enjoy your One Day Juice Cleanse and feel free to share your favorite recipes in the comments below.
Love,
Z.

Hello Zuzka, we don’t have to add protein powder to our juice?
Private Member |
You don’t really need protein powder to begin with 🙂

There is protein in both the kale and the spinach so no protein powder is needed.

What are the benefits of the lemon juice first thing in the morning? I heard this so many times ! Would you tell us? Thanks

Lemon juice is a diuretic. That means that it helps remove any water that you are retaining.

Women should have a least one lemon every day. It is good for our digestion. reproductive system, cysts and overall health. I’ve been taking one lemon a day for years. Recently, my husband started eating a lemon a day. His skin is beautiful and he swears by it.

Hi,
What kind of juicer do you have or can you make a recommendation?
Thank you. Love your videos.

She has vitamix blender

I’d say that the Juicer (separate from her vitamix blender) looks like it might be a Bevelle. Personally I own a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. It’s whisper quiet, does an amazing job, and is only $99 and I’ve had it for years. (most juicers are around 200-300 dollar price rang, and I don’t have that kind of money lying around so that was a key point in my decision making.)If you want to know more about juicing, there is this great documentary called Fat Sick and Nearly Dead that you can watch for free on Hulu without a membership. Hope this helps.

Excuse me, I meant Breville, not bevelle. lol.

Getting a slow juicer is sooooo worth it, you get a lot more out of your greens with them. I hope you can get one soon.

Dear Zuzka,
thank you for all your tips they are awesome!
Could you say what for a juicer you have? I want to buy one but do not know wich is the best. Do you have tips? Or anyone else here? Links to amazon would help most ;-))

I bought a Breville juicer from Amazon for 150. I’ve had it for over a year and it’s lasted me the whole time. Any issue you’ll see on the types of juicers is that they don’t juice leafy greens very well. It’s true with mine, so I end up juicing what I can and make a smoothie with it and some greens in a blender. But I don’t mind the extra steps because it’s so healthy!

Zuzka has vitamix blender, it’s very expensive!

Her vitamix blender isn’t the only thing she used. Didn’t you see the silver Breville (i’m guessing) Juicer in the other corner?

When juicing, what skins/peels, etc. can you leave on (that you would normally remove if you were eating the whole raw food)?

I always peel oranges/lemons, and I tend to cut out apple cores or anything with seeds… The seeds tend to get stuck in my juicer’s blade/strainer
