Heartbreaker Body Workout #1 X

 | 166 Comments | Heartbreaker Body Series

This series is all about High Intensity Interval Training with two pieces of equipment - pair of dumbbells and power band.  I use 12lb dumbbells which is a good enough challenge for me, but remember that we're all individuals so you'll each have to choose the right weights for you. If 12lb dumbbells feel like it's too much for you, use a lighter pair. If you need a bigger challenger, use heavier dumbbells. When it comes to the power band, I suggest you always use the heaviest one. They usually come in a pack of 3 or more. Use the thickest band to get the most out of this series and so that it doesn't roll on you (it still happens but not as... [more]

Zuzka this workout is going in my favorites!!!! I love hiit workouts because you have the opportunity to beat your score from the first round and it gives you an extra push to not fall behind your first cycle. I am so pleased I was able to increase my reps for all exercises except #5 in the 2nd round. I used my 15 lb db’s and for the hip raises I did them elevated on the aerobic stepper with a 25 lb plate to feel it more in my hamstrings since I am trying to grow them a bit. I cant wait for the next one!!

I’m still in beginner program but frequently add a band above my knees to make it even harder, you can really feel it the next day!

My power band keeps rolling up! I think it is cos my legs are too fat 🙁 anyone in Australia know where I can get some good thick bands that work for them??!??!

      Hi Eloise,

I got mine from Inter Sport, used to be Sports Power. They are SPRI brand I think, are somewhat thicker in width and I have found them to be quite comfortable for these workouts. They’re not expensive either.

      Hope this helps,

Loved it. And loved the last exercise too.

I love how Z has designed this so that we don’t have to keep removing the power bands and putting them back on again which can be really awkward to do in a rush – it flowed really well. I use 3 bands as I don’t think mine are as heavy as Zuzka’s. Did 200 heavy Kettlebell swings before this – 2 sets of 50 and then 1-10 reps followed by 9-1 rep!

    71 cals, HR148/171. Z’s pace.

This was a lot of fun! Next time I will use heavier weights and try for better time to increase the intensity. I love the weight band combination!
