People always ask me if I lift heavy weights and most of them don’t believe that all I do is my ZGYM workouts. I always say that I don’t ever go to the gym - which is true, and that I don’t lift heavy - which is not exactly true. As you’ll see in this workout, I actually do lift heavy weights. My 44lb Beast is a heavy kettlebell and even though I don’t lift it over my head, I do use it quite often for strengthening my glutes and legs. If you want these workouts to work for you, you have to make sure that you’re using the right weight for... [more]

Hi ladies, quick question………What does this mean at the end of the list?

    4. KB Swing / Burpees
    5/5 10/10 15/15

Do I have the choice to do either 5, 10 or 15? Just signed up for the ZGym today.

Hey I am not a lady but I can answer your question. It means you go through the whole thing. You end up with 15/15. Its fun. The burpees can be tough but watch your form, pace yourself.

Hi LaTonya. 5/5 means 5 kb swings followed by 5 burpees, then 10/10 means 10 KGB swings followed by 10 burpees then 15/15 means 15 KGB swings followed by 15 burpees.

Hi Zuzana, A friend and ballet dancer gave me a new kettelbell beast. 24 kilos, I was a little skeptical at first but it does make a differance, I really enjoyed it. Sometimes I wonder if I am too old for these workouts but I will continue as long as I am able to. By the way, it takes me longer to do these Summer Sreds because I have to go outside to do the pull ups and the jump rope. I am too tall for my exercise room! Thanks you so much Zuzana! for the torture!

Have done this twice now and must admit it’s not for me. My arms are proportionally way longer than Zuzka’s, so I just don’t feel the deadlifts or plies with the heavy Kettlebell. Using a heavier (and bigger) Kettlebell just impedes my range of motion even more, so that’s not an option. Any suggestions? I may sub with those jumping squats to deadlifts and wall abductions with the medium Kettlebell that z has used in earlier shreds. Loved the abs section and the last ladder section.

I used the smaller kb for the first ones because my heavy one was getting in the way and dragging and I was making awkward moves. Range of motion without straining my back with bad moves is what I am working on. Although I felt like I was cheating, it felt more effective in the end, as I really focused on using all my muscles more. They say, where the attention goes, the body follows! 🙂 Less is more sometimes!

Thanks! Yes I think I’ll switch to the lighter kettlebell. I can really feel the deadlifts to squats (where Zuzka kind of jumps in the middle) with the lighter kb. I’ve considered a sandbag too, but don’t want more stuff lying around my living room!

Your and Janet’s ideas are great, and I wanted to add that maybe you could use yoga blocks to increase that range of motion? Of course doing the ballerina plie squats with those do not sound very safe so you’d have to keep your heels down, but it might help with deadlifts. Just a thought 🙂
