Best Lunges For Women
Health | April 10, 2014
Have you ever noticed that men don’t need to do as much running or leg and butt training in order to have tight and lean rear end? I know. It’s totally unfair and so true. Guys just don’t get saggy butts no matter how many hours a day they sit on them. Women on the other hand have to work their butts off to keep them nice and tight, which can be challenging if you have a sedentary job. That’s why it’s so important that our training differs a little bit from the workouts that our boyfriends or husbands do. Sometimes it’s all in just small details and modifications when it comes to exercises. While he’s doing classic weighted lunges, you should do lunges that are easier on your knees, but hard on your butt. Watch the video to see what the best lunges for women look like.
The reason why we have to work a lot harder to keep our tushy tight, is because our bones are build differently. While men’s bodies are straight as a surf board, we on the other hand have curves. I love curves! Curves are great, pretty, and sexy. However the fact that we have wider hips creates certain imbalances in our muscles. It causes us being more quad dominant (quads are the muscles in the front of your thighs) and have less strength in the back of the thighs and our buttocks. This muscle imbalance is also the reason why women are more prone to ACL injuries, knee pains, and lower back pains. Oh well, complaining is not going to take us anywhere, but consistent training will! And to be perfectly honest, I am fine with exercising regularly for as long as I live and take care of my body.
Like I said it’s all in the detail. Instead of keeping your body upright, lean your body forward keeping your back straight. Bring your hands or weights all the way to the ground and push off of the front heel as you stand back up. Backward lunges are always more effective for targeting your booty, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do front or walking lunges this way.

Zuzka.

I don’t have this problem, I ride horses so I virtually do an hour of squats and leg bridges 4-5 times a week ๐

How many reps and sets of Backward lunges or forward lunges do you recommend if I want to do this workout after the Zgym workout?

Hi Zuzana, just thought I’d let you know how awesome I think your workouts are. I love the variety of moves and the different parts of my body they work. I’ve been incorporating them into my workout routine for the past few months, and I love the things that I’m seeing happen in my core and my shoulders. Anyway, I’ve been following you for a while and just thought I’d let you know that I love what you are doing! ๐
