Confidence and Fitness - Coffee Talk
Blog | October 03, 2013
I haven’t done any coffee talk recently and since I was resting at home after shooting two kettlebell workouts, I decided to do a coffee talk and talk about confidence and fitness. It breaks my heart when I read comments or emails from young women that are struggling with their self confidence and blame their fitness and appearance for it. Don’t get me wrong, I know exactly how it feels when you are out of shape. I’ve been there. I know how it feels, when you think you’re out of shape, while many people around you are telling you otherwise. I know how powerful our mind can be to trick us and make us feel worthless. I also know how powerful and great our mind can be. Watch this coffee talk video, then read on, and if you feel like you want to contribute with your own opinion or thought, please leave a comment.
I believe that confidence has little to do with our appearance or our achievements. I know people that are happy and confident while living very modestly. I also know people who seem to have it all. They’re in great shape, have a lot of money and great success, yet they’re still not happy and lacking self confidence. Do you have any idea how many rich, and beautiful people who are depressed are out there?? It is insane for so many of us to even imagine someone who is in top shape, has a perfect face, and tons of money, being depressed about their life. Yet, it happens all the time. We tent to think that if we only were rich our problems would be gone and we would be happy forever. You don’t think that those rich depressed people thought the same thing, before they became successful? Of course they did. What a surprise it must have been after all those years of striving for better life, that wealth is not what makes them happy!
It’s the same when it comes to your fitness. It helps to be in great shape, just like it helps to be successful, however that by itself will not make you happy or confident if you won’t change your believes and your inner dialog with yourself. Also I want you to realize what a gift it is to have a goal that you can strive for, because the journey is the most exciting thing. You should always enjoy every moment that is between setting up your goal and achieving it. Once you achieve your goal you want to look back and be proud of all you went through, because the achievement itself won’t have enough power to keep you happy and fulfilled for a long time. You will always have to set a new goal and start a new exciting journey.
I have an exercise for you. Write down all of your negative believes and everything that you don’t like about yourself. You’ll be surprised what your mind can come up with. Then you have to make sure that you change every single negative belief into a positive one. I know that it’s not always easy, because you want to be honest with yourself, but being honest doesn’t mean cruel or negative. Instead of thinking: “I’m a lazy slob.” You can decide to think this: “I’m done with laziness, I’m a new person now and I know I can get into the best shape of my life.” See, you don’t need to lie to yourself about your past, but realize that it’s only your past. Every minute is an opportunity for a new life.
Enjoy your workouts and be excited for what’s to come!
Best,
Zuzka.

(I love it! LOL! You and Santino are making the same face in that picture.)
Anyways, I JUST said to my husband, “I’ve got to search for a coffee talk on the computer this morning because I need a little outside motivation today.” Voila! Thank you, Zuzka.

You are very right Zuzka.
And actually the people I find myself MOSTLY admiring are those people who are 10-20kg bigger than me, but they are CONFIDENT with themselves and their bodies. And that shines through and they are so beautiful. Then I always end up wishing I had what they have, despite that I’m far fitter and healthier than them, but I lack the LOVE for myself and my body image is not healthy.
Soo…I’m still trying to learn to love myself as I am, working hard on what’s on the inside, at the same time as I’m working hard on the outside, taking care of my body and health.
I believe it’s possible to achieve inner peace and love but it’s just a process.
Thank you for helping me, us, with this process that we all are going through!!

I totally agree with you Zuzka about happiness and confidence coming from the inside, and I’ve always been a happy & confident person, also before exercising with your workouts. However, being able to get that extra boost of confidence after finishing a workout and after seeing results after just a few months (and years) is amazing and it makes life feel so much easier and happier. Your workouts give so much energy and make me reach my maximum in other things in life as well! Also, I’ve never had serious issues with my body, but knowing that it looks great (thanks to you) takes off the last bit of unconfidence there was. Many people say they’re not disciplined enough to workout alone at home or at the gym, I think that’s just a question of attitude and that the discipline also comes along with the confidence you get when thinking positive, exercising, reaching a goal or doing something else that proofs that you’re capable of surprising yourself of how good you are. Again, thanks for making my life so much richer and active because of the energy I get from working out.

I agree with your opinion about people that have tons of excuses for not doing exercise. That’s what my thought exactly. I also think everyone can do anything of they put their mind and effort in it. Nobody can stop or force anyone into anything except themselves. I’ve proven myself that i can do exercise on my own at home and i’ve been doing and following Z for almost 1 and half years now. Have ditched the gym and never look back! This is something i’ve to be proud of because we all know lots of people think is hard to do exercise on their own. But i enjoy it and it has saved so much money and time especially.

Absolutely true ! Happiness comes from within , when we connect with our true nature of love , joy and peace and coming home to who we really are , that we are ” enough ”

This is something I am trying to work on at the moment. I have lost 7 stone so far but I am still not happy with my body. I know it’s silly because I have come along way but I still have no confidence in myself 🙁

I knew there was a real reason why I liked you. The thoughts that you have about being ‘happy’ are right on!..
Thank you for sharing. Confidence comes from the INSIDE first, regardless of the outward appearance.

That is so true Z I have three kids a husband who works every minute he can to just make the bills while I stay at home and take care of the house and kids are lives are far from perfect my body is diffently far from perfect but besides all these things we struggle in everyday but I can honestly say I’m happy maybe not with every aspect in my life but I think without the struggle and never really having all of life’s best advantages has made me realize that I’m happier than if I was a millionaire and could afford everything to the fullest, you know. But for those things that I cannot change right now like myself on the outside i am going to write down a list and turn it around to a more positive advantage for myself.
But most of all I appreciate you for being so understanding and really trying to not just help us with our physical challenges but being more than that a friend to each and every one of us. Because that is going to take us a lot further than anyone else would be able to oh and more thing thank you for also not making everything so expensive so I can be a part of this and enjoy EVERYTHING you have to offer us cause I’m so sure that plenty of us would agree that every DVD and advice that you offer and help us with is worth so much more. But yet you not only give a few of us hope but all of us hope.
God Bless YOU and COFFEE TIME!
