My DIY Projects

A couple of weekends ago I decided to be creative and I shortened the legs of our table that was actually pretty tall and we had no stools to go with it. I thought why not to make a nice coffee talbe out of it. I also wanted to sand it down, however that is still in progress.

Now the table looks like this, we have not figure out yet the seating around this table and the most ironic part is that we just got two awesome looking stools made out of iron and leather (really fancy) but now we don’t have the high table to go with it! I was seriously thinking about gluing the legs back on the table, just to be able to use those stools.

Don’t you ever feel like that?

Yesterday I walked into the door and the first thing I saw was this monster.  Jesse decided to take our DIY projects to the next level, and got a few of these big woodworking tools so that he can build us a new dining table.. YAY! Super excited, but I can’t wait to get this machine out of the living room 🙂

Anyways, we moved into our house in April, but we’re still working on making this place into our home. We definately need more furniture and decorations, but the kids, I mean dogs,  seem to be happy 🙂 Santino knows exactly what I’m talking about.

Instead of gluing the legs back onto the table, use the drill press to bore holes in the shorter legs and the cutoff part, so you can reattach them with dowels. That way, you can adjust the size of the table whenever you want.

I love the new table! We use low tables all the time…for seats just get some cool throw pillows and give it an Asian or Mororoccan vibe. It’d look great with the dark wood. Nice work!

Awesome! I love DIY, although I don’t get around to as much of it as I’d like. But I found a website a while back, ana-white.com, and there are a bunch of free blueprints for a ton of furniture, and she includes cut lists, so you can take the supply list to a hardware store and have them cut everything for you. It’s all super sturdy looking, and there are hundreds of plans. If you want some inspiration or just plans, there’s a ton to see – even tutorials for different staining techniques! Rock on with your bad self, lady!

Thanks for the link Joanne! I loved building stuff as a kid with my dad and have wanted to try my hand at it for the home. So excited to have this website.

    Hi Zuzka,

So you cut all four legs down by yourself and the table doesn’t wobble? I’m impressed! 🙂 Some cushions to sit on and you got a nice setup. Two stools need two more to make a set for a tall table. Jesse has nice taste in tools. Encourage the creative in your guy and he will be happy. –Chris
