You speak to me Z!! It is hard to not get stressed about all the mess a family can conjure up but I will keep trying really hard to focus on what matters most. Thanks for the awesome coffee talk as always!
p.s. what did you do to do those handstand push ups? Just get to the point where you could do one and then follow your method just like you said? How did you actually get to the point of even being able to do just one? Just go down as far as you could and then do the method from there until you could do one? Haha so many questions all at once!!!

Also thank you this is a right perfect timed coffee talk. I just finished brow beating my hisband about the hoisework a regular thing in my home sadly as I keep putting off the most important work ( myself and my health..) for things that are subpar to our happiness and wellbeing. Ive taught our children the value of inconsistency and procrastination towards your health for a clean and ordered home…. ok it sounds worse on paper… its not a war camp .. πŸ€— ok SERIOUSLY i believe it was two weeks in spacing of your coffee talks because God only gives us what we can handle. He Loves me and wants my best. The house looks great and my husband still lives here..xoxo ps ive lost about twenty lbs being inconsistently consistent. Thanx

Thanks for the great coffee talk, I want to apply your method to finally do pull ups (will have to buy another pull-up’assisted band). Also great advice about procrastination, sometimes it’s really hard not to let things get in the way of what’s really important.
Edited, I meant pull-ups, not push ups! πŸ˜†

Love all your Coffee Talks, but this one, I will revisit again and again for the motivation and “real talk “. Thank You Zuzka, I definitely feel you on procrastination and setting priorities. My husband constantly complains about my complacency, but you’ve given me much to think about. Working out is and has always been high on my “to do list” every day. Taking that time sets my day in motion and certainly eases my anxieties. Managing my time wisely has never been an easy task for me, but , I’m getting a bit better.
Love the tips for mastering a Pistol Squat. It’s been a slow progression for me, so I will definitely practice your tips.
    Thank You as always ❀️

Thanks for posting about your method! I suppose for those of us who can already do push-ups that we would begin to raise our feet higher? Or would we put extra weight on our shoulders/backs?

My current goal is unassisted pull ups- so I will use this method. Hopefully I will reach my goal of real pull ups before the end of the year! I also still need to work on my pistols, they are clumsy and sloppy! It is difficult not to fall backwards without a counterweight held out in my hands.

The section on procrastination is also good. I am a master procrastinator! It helps me to write a list, in a highly visible place. I like crossing off what was finished so I can see a list of completed tasks.

how will you do this method with pull ups? I was think maybe bands would work best?

Hi Tracey, I think you can start by using assisted bands, the best is if you buy two: a light one and medium, you can start by combining the two (it depends if you can already do any pull-up or not), and once you manage that, you can go down on the assisted strength of the band (using just the medium, eventually just the light one, and then one). I think the idea is to pick the band that would allow you to do a pull-up but where you still find it hard, and then work your way until you don’t need bans anymore…

I’ve been practicing with a really strong one, which makes pulls ups easy, but now I think I need a medium one because I’ m going nowhere, it really helped me hear Zuzka talk about the sweet spot because now I understand what I was doing wrong…

I have bands of all thickness. i have been practicing forever but still can not do one. I do negatives, jumping, etc. Right now i am using my purple or maybe red now. Did you know you can also begin with two feet, then one foot, then knee to make it harder before moving down on bands. I think i will do pull ups instead of chin ups with Zuzka’s method and use my knee in the band and see how that works and just continue my normal practice and workouts. I am wanting to work on shoulder taps and HSPU, pistols, etc. but worry i may overwhelm myself! LOL

I’m using pull up assist bands. Right now I have a medium for regular pull ups and a heavy for wide grip and narrow grip pull ups. My medium is getting too easy, so I’m going to get a light one to use with Zuzka’s method.

That’s exactly right. I would get different strengths of pull up bands. Also if you get to the point where you can do 3-5 pull ups with the assist band and still not even one regular pull up, then try to do your assisted pull ups with more explosive power – meaning pull yourself up as fast as you can. Explosive moves build strength fast as well.

Thank you for idea of explosive pull up. Could you do a demo video of this? And also, would you recommend going from foot to knee before thinning the band?

Yes, if you want to get eventually to be able to do handstands then you would start raising your legs up. Then you can work on your headstand push ups by increasing the depth of your push up while in the handstand position to get your head eventually all the way down to the ground.

Pull ups can be even easier to work on when you have the pull up assist band. They have different strengths of the bands, which will allow you to slowly progress to the lightest one.

This came at the perfect time. I was trying to figure out a way to ask you how to work up to a pistol squat! Thank you! Do you think you ever might do a tutorial on building up to a pull up?

You can do this method I shared and use the pull up assist band. I have also done a tutorial in the past that can help you practice pull ups: https://zuzkalight.com/workouts/warrior-wednesday-how-to-practice-pull-ups/

Great coffee talk πŸ™‚ Thank you!

Have you been thinking about making a video or two about how to use the Tower as a part of postural therapy? I know you introduced some alternatives for the exercises that can be done with the same purpose, but for those who do have the Tower but do not know how to use it properly… Maybe that would not be bad to hear from your own experience and perspective. πŸ™‚
