Monday Motivation - 3 Levels of Success
Blog | February 18, 2018
There are 3 levels of mindset that correlate closely with the level of your success. Which one can you relate to? I have a few tips on how to grow from the beginner level all the way to the advanced.

that was super motivating thank you Zuzka! I feel like Im at the intermediate level because I workout with you about 4 to 5 x per week. But the challenge I have is that I have to modify a lot because I have whats called Total Adhesive Capsulitis, or commonly called Frozen Shoulder Syndrome. It’s getting a lot better but my range of motion is still quite limited so Im still not able to do any pushups or burpees and can only use a kettlebell for lower body resistence training. My sabotaging belief because of this has been that I’ll never be able to get back to where I was before in my fitness so why bother. But then I somehow force myself to do my workout and am always glad I did. I love what you said about considering who it will benefit for me to workout and feel my best as a way to motivate myself. Looking forward to hearing about your take on discipline next week. Much love and aloha! πΈ

Hi Rain! I have that too! Do Zuzka’s “Postural Therapy for Athletic Performance” and “Postural Therapy for Position 2.” It totally takes it away! I do them at least once a week!

Hi Britt thank you Im definitely going to try them both! I had tried the postural therapy for shoulders when I was in the “freezing” stage but everything was too painful then. Now though Im sure it would help. I dont know why I didnt think of that but Im glad you reminded me! And I hope your FS is healing quickly!

Very motivating, I am definately at the advanced level of motivation, I watch this video and I think ,whew that kicks ass and I can do most of it. But. there are some things I am still working on (pistols) and I think I should really be there already and get a bit disappointed. I realize it’s all what you put into it and I don’t practice pistols like I should, there is soo much to practice! I’ve been with the zgym for about 1 1/2 years and I have come a long way, even though I’ve always worked out. Zuzka you have opened my eyes to a new way of working out and I will be forever grateful. I cannot get enough of the zgym and look forward to eventually meeting all of my goals!!!

I’d say I’m at the advanced level of motivation. I have a planning personality, so when I’m motivated, I map out a plan of action and feel very satisfied when I can follow it. The downside is that I get totally stressed out if my pre-laid-out plans get disrupted! (Migraines, emergencies, etc) Thus…backup plans! π
I have it all laid out this year to REALLY work on my upper body strength, using the 4-times-a-day/max rep method you mentioned a bit back. Each month I’m picking a different variation of a pushup. It’s only the 2nd month in, but I can already see how far I’ve come…and I can’t say how excited I am to see a new Black Diamond workout on the schedule in the midst of me working on this!! π
I have a question! On occasion, and in this video, I’ve seen you do kip-ups (I think that’s what they’re called?). It’s something I’ve always wanted to learn! I feel like I probably have the strength for it, but not the muscle memory (and I’m a bit timid about just jumping into something like that without knowing what I’m doing — I’m afraid I’d do something wrong and break my neck!) Would you ever consider doing a short video series on how to work up to those? Like the ones you’ve done for arm balance challenges? Or other skill-learning videos? That’s just one of those skills that looks SOOOOO COOL!!!!!

Could you tell me what video that one is that talks about the 4 times a day max rep? I am thinking of beginning the Chinese food for rapid press gains for chin ups progressing to a thinner band and then hopefully no band and then double pressing my 30lb KBs to eventually double press my 35lbs. This may work out better for me though.

For the life of me, I can’t remember where exactly that one is…but I remember it was one of the weekly talks near the end of last year. It was about learning moves. Find the max number you’re able to do of a move (pushup, for instance), then do that number throughout the day 4 times a day until you can increase the number. (Or — using pushups for example — if working up to a pushup, then the closest variation until a pushup is reached). I wish I could find the exact video! It always stuck with me, and I’ve been enjoying using it. π

AH! I found it! This is the one: zuzkalight.com/blog/how-to-master-push-up-pistol-squat-stop-procrastinating/
I’ve been using it last month to build up to a better number of regular pushups before my arms give out. This month it’s one-legged pushups. Next month will be a different variation of pushup (still trying to decide which one next. I have a list! Scorpion, Divebombers, Clapping, etc)
Mmmmm, and chili sounds good! Perfect for this time of year!

She actually did a video about kip-ups a while back, I think it was on youtube? If I am not mistaken π

I do remember a few videos here and there about kip-ups throughout the years… (I remember one about kip-up burpees!) but I don’t remember any on how to work up to them. I must have missed that! I’ll have to do some digging! π

Thanks for the video! I believe I’m at the advanced stage but sometimes when I’m frustrated I let myself skip a workout or two. However, in two days I feel I already miss these daily routines!! I feel like I have something extra around my waist if I skip workouts and I have to deal with it asap π working out on a daily basis really has become a habit.
By the way, I already asked some time ago but I’ll repeat my request.. Could you please post the schedule for the new week on sundays? I’d like to follow the schedule but on Mondays I work out earlier than you post it unfortunately.. would be great if we have the schedule on sundays!

Thank You so much for this motivational video. Im very disciplined when it comes to working out daily….just like brushing my teeth or taking a shower. Canβt be without some sort of movement EVERY day. Especially early morning workouts….best fuel for me! Now where Iβm a beginner/intermediate is my personal goals (out side of fitness and wellness). I procrastinate to a fault when it comes to goals for work and personal growth π. This video as well as last weeks video ( about feeling βstuckβ) has given me much to think about in moving forward.

bummer, I deleted my comment by mistake (mixed keyboard)…so it will be short feedback now.
I feel I have always been advanced in my mind, but was lacking a leader. I am so happy I came across Zuzka, it has unleashed the strategy and knowledge I needed…for the last 7 years. I only had basic gym workouts (though body-pump classes brought be something new , that other classy STEP workouts didn’t bring) available, or unattainable gymnast/contortionist levels….there had to be something in-between.
Though I started slow (had to modify a lot due to my diastasis recti), I kept going with modifications.
Now I lack some mobility , but have a strategy (slower than muscle mass gain) and know I’ll make it. I don’t worry, because I actually enjoy the journey.
That is a key component to success to me, ENJOY THE RIDE, I don’t focus on the result.
Though, at the very start, I kept pushing and motivation myself (in HIIT) as I my self pep-talk was “do it NOW, because it is your last chance,NOW or NEVER” ….and it work.
I have to continue doing this , and keep the “permission” door closed. It is like shopping candies..I never ever do this, full-stop. Otherwise , where is the limit?
But that will fall next week into discipline.

Video does not work for me either (says not available in my country – Switzerland). Could you check if some settings are off?
