Two Skinny Types of People
Blog | October 14, 2013
Today I came across an interesting article in Huffpost by Scott Mowbray called “Who’s thin and why.” In his theory there are two skinny types of people. The first type that he calls “the congenitals”, naturally and unconsciously eat just enough to maintain their weight, and keep their body composition on the thin side. The second type “the habituals” are those of us that have to apply their conscious will power on a daily basis, and every time we sit down to eat, in order to maintain a healthy weight.
What about the third type of people that doesn’t fit in either of those 2 previous categories? The type of people that wishes secretly or openly to have the genetics to be naturally thin or the motivation and will power to achieve their goal. What label should we give those people? What about “passive complainers” ?
If you happen to fall into the third category, it still doesn’t mean that things can’t change for you. While there is a very little to no chance to change your DNA, you can still turn into the hardworking and super motivated type at any point of your life. As a matter of fact, you can decide right now that you will commit to daily exercise, healthy diet, and smaller portion sizes.
If that doesn’t work for you, then you could still join the fourth type of people that just don’t give a rats butt about their body composition or fitness alone. These people also never complain because they maintain their confidence by just being simply brilliant people and their focus is usually based around mental rather than physical activities.
Whatever type you may be today, does not indicate what kind of person you’ll be tomorrow, and the most important thing is to be happy with who you are. That said, do not be a passive complainer, because that is literally the worse thing you can do for yourself and everyone around you. Take an action today and show the world who you really are.
All the best,
Zuzka
P.S. That’s not an ice cream in the bowl. It’s a plain yogurt with blueberries, pecans, and Salba.

Hi Zuzka,
It would seem that physical exercise can and does change the Genes that are expressed. So people who claim it’s all in the genes might be wrong. We all pretty much have the same set of genes it’s what gets expressed that makes who we are. –Chris

I used to be the 1st type, really thin and dedicated to fitness. But after reaching 40 yrs old 4 years ago I struggle as the 2nd type. The female genetics finally caught up with me in my older years, unfortunately…my mom her 3 sisters and my grandma are all big apple-shaped women.

That’s my lousy excuse, anyways, but I don’t give up because I love your workouts, Zuzka. I never, ever get bored. Sometimes I watch your workouts and get overwhelmed but once I start I totally get into it and do really well. 🙂

I grew up being the “chubby” sister. We all ate the same foods. They stayed thin while I got fat. It was something I didn’t understand and use to make excuses for. Maybe my genes weren’t great but it didnt mean I could t be thin also. Eventually, I figured out that my body needs alot of exercise to maintain a healthy weight. Z workouts have helped me cut down on my workout times and still get the same results!
