Thank you Zuzka. What are your thoughts on dry brushing? And/or any recommendations on ideal brushes?

I’m not Zuzka but I can add my two cents on dry brushing. I’m 36 now and I’ve been dry brushing since long before it was popular, since I was around 16. I had a tendency towards bumpy skin (keratosis pilaris) on my arms and legs and so tried everything I could to get rid of it, I was extremely self conscious of it as a teen. My mom also had some old beauty book from the 1970s that recommended dry brushing. So I started then and jut never stopped. I don’t do it every day but probably around 4 times a week I guess, usually a few minutes before I hop into the shower. All I can say is that I think it does contribute to reducing cellulite and overall keeping your skin feeling young on your body. Even with good diet I still notice I get KP breakouts on my arms from time to time but most o the time it’s gone, and I don’t have anything on my legs. Overall, I feel like I look pretty good for my age, and I am sure dry brushing has contributed, along with regular workouts. And it just feels good, I do feel that it helps with circulation, definitely exfoliation, and it just makes your feel awake and like you’ve done a little something nice for yourself. I’ve been using a brush I got from the bodyshop for the past 10-11 years. It is still in great shape. It has the long handle so I can also get my back too. I remember when I bought it I was quite broke and it felt very expensive, I think it was close to 100 euro or something like that…. but I still have it and it’s still in great condition, so it’s a good investment.

        Hi Caroline
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. This was so useful. I actually remembered that years ago I received a dry brush set as a gift. I ended up using it as a cleaning brush because I wasn’t really as well informed lol. But I’m going to ease into it this year. Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Zuzka this was really helpful as now at 36 I am no longer taking my skin for granted. For those of us on a budget, what would you recommend as the one most effective thing in your arsenal?

Thank you for sharing that, I love it!
I switched from conventional skin care to basically Sheabutter and Aloe Vera and my skin has never looked better, so I’m very interested in all kinds of home treatments.

Can you please tell me what kind of lashes you apply?
I do not find the video anymore where you said it.

    I would really appreciate that!!!!
    Love from Switzerland

Very interesting to learn about all of these. I bought a Joov red light a few years ago, it’s really nice. Now I’m financially drained from trying to save my business from Covid so I can’t afford any of that stuff. I did go over the ingredients on the skin care products and I will tweak them to suit me best & make my own versions (I make soaps and lotions at home, and own a CBD store so I have access to wholesale CBD oils to put in my homemade products).

I can say the two things that caused sudden (within a year) noticeable aging for me… One is serious health problems. After I almost died from malnutrition (misdiagnosed celiac disease), my skin and hair never went back to how they were before. Two is heavy chronic stress. The stress of my business collapsing under forced closures etc. from Covid, along with the death of a loved one, aged me faster than anything!
