Holy MOLEY are my alignment pictures all KINDS of messed up!!! No wonder I have so many pain days!! It’s very clear my shoulders need aligning (but I already knew that)…and my head shows as off-center (which I was anticipating, too). But I’m now seeing other things, too (ha ha, like you said we might!). My knees are off in multiple ways, both turned in AND one above the other (not sure what the latter means…except for maybe a hip imbalance?) I see my hips a little off, too. I wasn’t too sure what to make on my side view pictures. My body looks like it’s leaning forward, but I don’t know what that means. (I do see the arms off there, again!) ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I can’t thank you enough for getting into alignment stuff! I’ve been going to the chiro and having massages for pain, but as you said, the body’s just going to keep going back to the bad positions unless something’s done. I’m excited to see what progress I’ll make! Ha ha, and for the first time ever, I’ll have a before picture to compare progress to!!!

I hope this is ok — I’m going to put a link to my pictures in case Zuzka or anyone may have any insights. (I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people out there! I love how this community helps each other with such valuable info! ๐Ÿ™‚ And the posture stuff is all new to me!!) Oof, and ouch, try to ignore the badness of the picture — wow, I look grouchy! Next photo for progress, I’ll just make a funny face! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Wow, this gives me some big goals to aim for!! ๐Ÿ˜„LOTS of room to improve!!!!

isn’t it frustrating when you went to osteopath and other pros , and they don’t tell you there is an underlying root cause (makes me wonder if the actually know…) and worse…they have no plan to help you fix it.
it is like you have pain in the stomach and you are given a pill…but actually you were just hungry…nobody thought telling you to eat!
This just reinforces my lack of trust in the normal “system”. now I only want the best ๐Ÿ™‚

While not posture-related per se — I gave up on migraine medications because of that. Doctors just kept prescribing pills and it did nothing. I was still getting them 5 days a week. I’ve focused on cleaning up my eating over the years by making more and more things from scratch and going for organic/from-the-farm when possible/affordable (hormone changes are a major trigger for me. I can’t imagine anything where extra hormones are injected (for dairy, etc) would be good in that case). I take no preventatives, but they’re down from 5 days a week to about 5(ish) times a month. It’s nice to find fixes that don’t require covering up the issue!!!

The next focus has been neck and shoulder pain…and the chiropractor and massage therapists have been the biggest help, so far — they both say exactly what Zuzka has been saying. That everything’s interconnected. *sigh*, sometimes, though, what’s hard is actually finding exactly which pieces need fixing in order to fix the pain! Sure I feel it in my neck/shoulders. But I know since the body is a whole, there’s lots of stuff that could be causing the trouble, elsewhere! Baby steps! ๐Ÿ™‚

and your migraine can be posture related. Some more forms of migraines are. So stick with it. I have many occasion reported that there is not enough back exercices in the workout and I am slowly taking another route out of Zgym workouts as I don’t find them balanced (outside of postural therapy). I now prefer following trainers with a DPT background. e.g. I am on a trial with DocJenFit /the optimal body, and possibly may get a program from Jeff Cavaliere (though the women’s option doesnt suite me ..I would get AX-1 or AX-2). I will still remain in Zgym as I like the community and Z.

            Hi Laila,
I will be very interested to hear about DocJenFit /the optimal body. Do you think that you can drop me a mail (ltsalova@yahoo.com) and share your experience or we can connect on facebook (Lidiya Tsalova is my profile). I would really appreciate your feedback.

            Merci,

            Regards,
            Lidiya

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if some of it’s posture related. I know some of it’s hormone related, as the biggest ones hit like clockwork at “that time of month”! But knocking out posture-related migraines…that would reduce it further to only 1-2 times a month…and that’s amazing right there! ๐Ÿ˜„

I’ll have to look up some extra back exercises to add in! I’ve been adding in a little extra kickboxing on some days (and modifying some of the exercises in the zgym to add in some extra punches, on occasion), and have noticed the following day I’m a bit sore in those back muscles (the punching muscles! Ha ha!). So I know I’m not using them as much as I used to back when I trained in Martial Arts on a more regular basis! Eep!

I stopped martial arts related moves because they “close” the front body and accentuate the roundness of shoulders. Instead I work on few moves that open-up and get rotator cuff and rhomboids and traps working. I do some of these moves (without weight or resistance bands) several times a day ..as I take breaks from typing and I am so sore in my back ๐Ÿ™‚
those tiny muscles are really weak. look up a on athlean-x what Jeff Cavaliere does suggest (those are the moves I added on top of the Egoscue I do)

I’ve noticed that with my training for sure — that I tend to adopt a more rounded posture like a Martial Arts stance in the workouts here…and have been working to NOT do that! ๐Ÿ˜† (The styles I trained with uses a lot of boxing type moves…so even MORE rounded! One of the other styles involved a loooooot of falling, so that probably didn’t help anything, either) No regrets with it, though! ๐Ÿ™‚ I got into it for self defense, and like to keep up with what I can. I just have to work out that roundedness and keep a GOOD posture when I’m not punching/kicking! ๐Ÿ˜„ I’ll look that up!! I’ll have to incorporate that after any time I do anything that rounds my shoulders (whether typing or Martial Arts)! Thanks for the suggestion!!

I noticed your pull-ups are getting your rounded too (I have the same) so I’ve kept that out of the scope too. My focus now is only doing moves that will emphasize my good posture and between rounds and first thing in cooldown, I reset my posture using a few Egoscue postural things. I do a lot of massage using yogaTuneUp balls too. I can’t live without. I slacked a lot in 2017, I’ll have this a priority in 2018, because the more I keep pushing with not correct posture, the more difficult it will be to fix it…ie ,even push-ups and upward dog are not good right now, so I modify a lot.

Hey Zuzka, this coffee talk came just in time for me. I have been having an irritating pain at the base of my my neck on the right side that is nagging at me. So I am excited to learn what to do about that. I also noticed over time that my right foot turns out to the right. This is very interesting stuff this postural therapy. Thank you for your help and I hope you are well.

Pleasantly surprised with my photos (apart from the size of my arse from behind lol) Iโ€™m more balanced than I thought Iโ€™d be! Lean forward a little much maybe, and I know Iโ€™m pidgeon toed when I donโ€™t think about it

    can’t wait to do this!
I have to say that I have been wondering how you, for years, have been introducing each new video with your right hip jutting out and your left leg out to the left side of you – without noticing that! .. or maybe you did! .. And, when you’re sitting to talk, your right leg is bent in front of you, and the left is behind you.. … I always wondered and supposed you have a strong hip imbalance, but you’re in such great shape no one would suspect it! But I have always wondered from those two things..
I love the postural therapy and have to do it at least 3x a week, so I CAN’T WAIT to see how this measures out my imbalances… I know my right hip is twisted.. I can tell by how I favor my sleeping.. :\ and how I favor which foot steps which way, and which is first..
Will reply to this when I can!!
    xxo

I had a few x-rays and I’ve gotten the “something squirrely with your spine and pelvis there”, it looks like one leg is taller than the other (it’s really not though) and pushing my hip up and twisting it. Since I’ve started Z-Gym body weight exercises and stretching it’s actually less severe.
