Are You a Carb Addict? There is a cure...

I think that one of the most common comments I read from people is about their love for carbohydrates and their struggle trying to avoid eating these in your diet. I’m talking about those delicious, crunchy breads… sweet, savory cookies… _________.  The answer is: Yes.  I do eat these foods BUT they’re not free.  Here’s a video to help explain…

I had a lot of fun shooting this video, I definitely made sure to shoot one of my X workouts because some of these shots needed more than one take so I ate a lot of bread and ice cream for the sake of being funny 😉

In all seriousness though, earning your carbs is a great way to enjoy the foods you crave while staying on track with your fitness and weightloss goals.  Nothing tastes better than when you earn it after pushing yourself through an intense workout! Trust. Me.

If you’re addicted to carbs and want to see how strict you should be about your carb intake, try taking the Carbohydrate Tolerance Test.

If you aren’t already familiar with how I break down my meals on a regular basis, read more about my FM (Free Meal) and (WEM) Workout Earned Meals.  It also includes a list of benefits from a controlled low carb diet.

Let me know what you think!  Have you ever been caught eating ice cream in your closet or hiding crackers under your pillow? Share your struggles with carb addiction, we are here to help! 🙂

I think you should change that title to are you a sugar addict? Sugar and sweets are bad but not carbs. I LOVE carbs and they are good for you. Sweet potato, brown rice, quinoa, fruits etc are the best.

I once thought as you did, Jess, but I’m still careful with complex carbs. You might be interested in this cited Wikipedia article on Carbohydrate metabolism. “Doctors and scientists once believed that eating complex carbohydrates instead of sugars would help maintain lower blood glucose. Numerous studies suggest, however, that both sugars and starches produce an unpredictable range of glycemic and insulinemic responses.[2] While some studies support a more rapid absorption of sugars relative to starches[3] other studies reveal that many complex carbohydrates such as bread, rice, and potatoes have glycemic indices similar to or higher than simple carbohydrates such as sucrose.[4]”

LOL! This was so cute! I’ve been known to sneak a chocolate chip cookie or saltine crackers while actually standing in my pantry! Thanks for the humor, Zuzka! 😀

Yap I am carb addict…I imagine myself with a loaf of freshly baked French bread and butter and I am in heaven. One of my tricks has being 1) don’t buy the freaking bread and 2) buy the butter in sticks because I am too lazy to melt it to make it spreadable. I am paleonizing now which so far has worked the best for me. When I did it last it got me to eat more veggies and healthier overall. so far so good…the less I eat crap the less I crave it…let’s hope I can keep up the trend

Hi, I’m a strange carb addict..My problem is the following: during the whole day everything is ok. I eat clean and do my workouts every single day.. I just love working out, running and so on, BUT at night, after 10 pm I binge on ice creams, cakes, biscuits and I just can’t control myself! it’s like a big black hole. I understand it’s a seriuos problem ..bulimia I think..Please help!

      Hi Elena 🙂
I often have that too and figured that I crave fatty and / or sweet things when I’m tired. So, there might be a connection. If I go to bed straight away, I don’t crave these things too much, but if I need to stay up for work (or can’t get away from the computer >.<) I can barely resist.

haha, very funny video. It made me laugh. I don’t think I’m a carb addict. I crave all 3 macros equally. So basically just a normal food addict – which is fine otherwise I would be dead from starvation. But I like the idea of earning my meals with moving around. The food taste better and you feel great mentally.

Very funny 😀 I was diagnosed with RA last year. I started a gluten free diet (helps my inflammation associated with the disease) and miss my bread. I know there are substitutes but it’s not the same.

I liked the closet one! hahhahh I used to have a little “stash” of chocolate in my drawer but I’ve been on keto so I threw all that out! I like being on keto and feeling good but I won’t lie I LOVE chocolate! thank god theres ways to make it without the bad sugar! 🙂 During holidays I will go back to “earn your carbs” cus I like that diet also. I agree it tastes so much better after a tough workout!! 🙂
