Crispy Kale Chips Done Two Ways (FM)

Recipes | December 05, 2015

Yet another delicious recipe to share with you from the Thrive Algae oil team – the Japanese seasonings in the first recipe can be hard to find (maybe easiest to order off Amazon). Β The second way is just using nutritional yeast, both ways are delicious and definitely worth trying! πŸ™‚

*each makes a batch for about 10 servings which is great for a group get together:)

Curly Kale Chips with Nori and Togarashi:
4 bunches curly kale, stems removed, washed, dried and torn into chip size pieces
1⁄4 cup Thrive oil
1 tablespoon nori furikake spice blend
1⁄2 teaspoon togarashi spice blend

Tuscan Kale Chips with Nutritional Yeast:
4 bunches Tuscan or Dino kale, stems removed, washed, dried and torn into chip size pieces
1⁄4 cup Thrive oil
1 1⁄2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1⁄2 teaspoon kosher salt
1⁄2 teaspoon ground black pepper,

Preparation:

Heat oven to 275Β°F with convection if possible.

Curly Kale Chips with Nori and Togarashi:

Line rimmed sheet pans with parchment or nonstick foil.

Transfer the kale to a large bowl. Toss with the Thrive oil, rubbing leaves to make sure they are well coated, then toss with the nori furikake and togarashi spice blends.

Working in batches, spread leaves in a single layer on lined sheet pans and bake, about 25 minutes (rotating sheets halfway through, until crisp).

Transfer crisps with a metal spatula to baking sheets or platters to cool. Reuse parchment or foil for successive batches.

Tuscan Kale Chips with Nutritional Yeast:

thanks for sharing this, Z! I have to try these – especially that Tuscan one. I’m into salt & pepper, lately.. but after reading the article you just did on the nutritional yeast, I am intrigued and will have to try these. πŸ™‚
