Post Workout Breakfasts

The most enjoyable breakfast for me is the post workout one for number of reasons. It feels really good to get your training out of the way first thing in the morning. The way I do it, is that I put on my exercise clothes, and have my coffee while sitting down on my exercise mat going over the workout and listening to music that makes me want to move. That simple strategy is really helpful, because if you choose to sit on the couch instead, and watch the morning news, you may find yourself procrastinating. Getting your body and mind into the right space will help you to stay focused and more pumped to do your workout. I’m usually done with my training within 20 minutes, then I have shower and breakfast.
The great thing about the post exercise breakfast is that I have earned my carbs with the workout, so now I can enjoy my favorite French Toast (here’s the recipe), Sweet Quinoa (here) or my delicious Almond Butter Sandwich (here).
If I don’t do my workout first thing in the morning, then it’s going to affect my breakfast as well. In that case I stick to delicious low carb meals such as steamed veggies with scrambled eggs and bacon (or without bacon). If I have cravings for sweet low carb breakfast, then I have the option to make my Low Carb Protein Pancakes (FM) (here) or Blueberry Muffins (here).
It’s really not that difficult, just don’t feed your body with starchy carbs when it’s not needed. Eating whole grains, starches, and fruit high in sugar, after your high intensity workouts will help with your muscle recovery, and the energy from those meals will go straight into your muscles instead of being stored as fat.
