Bleu Cheese Salad (FM)
Recipes | June 17, 2013
Salads are healthy, try this Blue Cheese Salad Recipe.
I made this Blue Cheese salad recipe this weekend out of the leftovers in my kitchen and it turned out to be amazing, so I wanted to share it with you. Salads should be on your menu on a daily basis in my opinion. It does not get any healthier than that. You have to eat veggies as much as you possibly can so you might as well try as many variations of different salads as you can to keep it fresh.
Ingredients:
spinach and romaine lettuce blend
baby portobello mushrooms
red bell pepper
avocado
tomato
crumbled bleu cheese
red wine vinegar
olive oil
salt & pepper to taste
Here’s what I did:
1. I washed some spinach and romaine lettuce in my salad spinner. The salad spinner is something I can really suggest for you to get if you don’t have it yet. It’s an easy way to wash your leafy greens and get rid of the remaining water at the same time.
2. I chopped some baby portobello mushrooms, red bell pepper, avocado, and heirloom tomato.
3. I added about 1/2 cup of blue cheese into the salad. That’s the key, because it makes the salad super cheesy and yummy. You don’t have to worry about the extra calories, because you won’t be able to eat the entire salad in one sitting by yourself. Also is full of veggies and fiber and goodness.
4. Drizzle the salad with red wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil and toss the salad to get the dressing all over.
Little bit of Salt and Pepper to your taste and your simple and absolutely awesome salad is done. Enjoy and leave me a comment below 🙂
Have a great day,
Z.

Yum…yum… I will make it later. I don’t have blue cheese & red wine vinegar so I might use just olive oil and lemon… Thanks. 🙂

Hi again, Zuzka… Me and my husband loves your Z-Spice. It’s part of my kitchen spices now, Thank you SO much!!! My hubby asked me to make more… I wish you’ll make more of your Spice Mix and the homemade salad dressing. I believe, homemade is much better than buying the bottle dressing.

Hi zuzka, where can I find your z-spice and homemade salad dressing? I have looked and can’t seem to find it. I love z-cut cardio and I am on week 3 and have seen a difference!!!! I can’t wait to see how I will look on month 3. Will send before and after pictures as soon as I am done with the program. I have also been following your diet and I love it… I use to die for bread, and now I do not crave it at all, that’s amazing!!!! My sisters are now following you too after seeing the difference in my body after three weeks…. Thank you for such great program

Zuzka: You may wish to try infused balsamic vinegars instead of red wine vinegar to enhance your salads. Balsamic vinegar is far healthier and tastier than red wine vinegar and can be bought infused with a variety of fruits, which makes for a very exciting and tasty salad. You can also buy infused olive oils, and combining the two with thoughtful combinations is amazing. I just bought a Tuscan herb infused olive oil and a plum basil dark balsamic. The two together in my salad is absolutely heaven! In Santa Fe, NM, there is a store named Oleaceae, which you can look up online to see what I’m talking about. I’m sure something like this is in LA. Congrats on your new website format. My wife and I are supporters.

I just tried this and it was amazing. I swapped the mushrooms for chicken and the wine vinegar for apple cider vinegar but it’s delicious! I think this is my new go to lunch!

To Steve, I don’t think balsamic is “healthier” than wine vinegar… it contains much more sugar. You might prefer it but it’s not better, it’s an alternative. 😉

Hi Zuzka, I often use 2/3 apple vinegar and 1/3 olive oil with cumin, black pepper, rosemary, oregano, and salt that I’ve premixed something like your Z-spice. I just used your Z-spice on some chicken with great effect! This sounds like a pretty good salad, thanks. –Chris

Great recipe. Have you tried herb/fruit infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars? Definitely adds more flavor to a salad than plain old red wine vinegar. And healthier, too.
