Must try this one! I love cherries and I drink a smoothie everyday for a boost of raw whole food nutrition, protein and fiber. You could even change it up and making it cherry chocolate by adding 100% unsweetened cocoa powder. π

Any good ideas for dairy free options for those with dairy allergies?
I’m thinking coconut milk, but that takes away from the nice thickness the yogurt brings, as well as the tang, protein boost, etc.
But I’m drooling for a vanilla cherry smoothie now.

They make coconut milk yogurt that would probably work. π

This is a super delicious smoothie!!! It’s so thick it’s more like cherry ice cream. I used kefir and almond extract. Try it!

Am I the one having trouble with it? I replaced frozen cherries with frozen berries. It was not mixing well and I had to add almond milk.

No you aren’t! I did the same thing (replace cherries with blueberries) and I couldn’t even blend it because it was so thick. Even after I added almond milk it was still too thick to drink I had to use a spoon.

If it’s coming out too thick, I would try using more almond milk and/or kefir and less of the yogurt. Greek yogurt is very thick and adding frozen cherries only thickens it. I make a “cherry almond” smoothie that is really similar to this and it has never been too thick. When I make mine, I blend almond milk, frozen cherries, protein powder, and ground flaxseed π The original recipe also calls for almond extract but I don’t usually have that in the house so I just leave it out but I’m sure it’s delicious.

Yes exactly! not sure why other berries would make such a difference and how others make it work!
