Healthy Awesome Chips Recipe for Late Night Snacking
Recipes | March 23, 2013
Hi guys,
Today I made myself an awesome and healthy little snack out of Kale. I know, it’s hard to believe that you can satisfy your cravings for salty chips from a store with plain leafy greens.
All you need is Kale, olive oil, and salt. Start by preheating the oven for 350 F.
I used 3 big leaves of Kale and just tore the leaves into bite size pieces.
Make sure to wash the greens first. I love using my salad spinner for that. It’s fast and it’s effective. Get rid off as much of the remaining water as possible.
Drizzle some olive oil over the kale and toss to get it all over.
Sprinkle salt all over and toss again.
Spread the kale leaves across the baking sheet. No leaves should overlap so that you don’t get gross, soggy edges. Place the sheet into the preheated oven and leave it there for about 15 minutes.
The kale should be crispy with brown edges but not burned. Taste one and if it needs more crisping, then leave it for couple more minutes. Just to let you know, it is going to shrink. A lot. That’s the only sad part, because that is not enough for two people with big cravings for chips.
If you are snacking by yourself, then you will have left overs from the 3 stems that you can use later.
Enjoy your late night snack!

These are also delicious if you use nutritional yeast and cayenne pepper in addition to the salt 🙂 -N

Sounds great! Should these be kept in the fridge, or room temperature – assuming they even LAST long enough? 🙂

They are so good! My kids love them! I put some garlic powder too.

Those are the worst looking kale chips, but I’ve only seen ones that have been dehydrated at much lower temps for much longer time. Try this one.
