Healthy Awesome Chips Recipe for Late Night Snacking

Recipes | March 23, 2013

Hi guys,

Today I made myself an awesome and healthy little snack out of Kale. I know, it’s hard to believe that you can satisfy your cravings for salty chips from a store with plain leafy greens.

kale chips 1

All you need is Kale, olive oil, and salt. Start by preheating the oven for 350 F.

I used 3 big leaves of Kale and just tore the leaves into bite size pieces.

Make sure to wash the greens first. I love using my salad spinner for that. It’s fast and it’s effective. Get rid off as much of the remaining water as possible.

Drizzle some olive oil over the kale and toss to get it all over.

Sprinkle salt all over and toss again.

Spread the kale leaves across the baking sheet. No leaves should overlap so that you don’t get gross, soggy edges. Place the sheet into the preheated oven and leave it there for about 15 minutes.

The kale should be crispy with brown edges but not burned. Taste one and if it needs more crisping, then leave it for couple more minutes. Just to let you know, it is going to shrink. A lot. That’s the only sad part, because that is not enough for two people with big cravings for chips.

If you are snacking by yourself, then you will have left overs from the 3 stems that you can use later.

Looks good and sounds delicious! However, I wonder what is kale in spanish. I live in Argentina and would not know what to look for at the supermarket. Does anybody know?

I did kale chips several times already. I love them. Aside from salt, I also used other spices like cumin, garlic powder, cayenne, curry, anything you like. Something I like and love about kale, it last longer inside the fridge. I just bought a red kale. 😛

Hi Zuzka, will you make your orders available worldwide??? I’ve contacted WIN and they keep telling me they are able to ship worldwide, however their seller info lists countries they ship to and many countries aren’t there, like Serbia, and I’m not able to order. I know this problem is on your end (WIN’s that is), because I tried ordering Jillian Michaels DVD’s and I can do that wihtout any problem. Please try to fix this, i think it goes to your favour to have as many people able to purchase the DVDs as poossible.

I knew this already, I tried it already with sweet-potato peel 🙂 I really have to try this one with the kales though!

I’m gonna try sprinkling with Bragg’s Liquid Aminos, better than soy sauce and no wheat 🙂
