Introducing The Beast
Blog | January 08, 2016
The 2015 was a year of recovery for me. I was recovering in terms of my business, finances, mental health and also my physical health. Mentally, I haven’t given up on myself 🙂 I’m getting better and keeping the crazy under control. Business is great, we’re stable again and I have a lot of great things to look forward to. One of the greatest news is that my back feels amazing again. It took time for me to recover completely from the back issues I had in 2014. I’ve been very diligent with my postural therapy routines and very careful with my workouts, which was essential for my recovery, but it built up enormous tension inside of me. The limitations I had to face were stopping me from training the way I really wanted to. I wanted to use my heavy kettlebell, I wanted to do more challenging exercises, I wanted to get more flexible, but my back kept telling me I wasn’t ready. Getting rid off the stiffness in my lower back, and sciatica pains completely, took months and months of at home therapy. By the way, I have some great routines in my Postural Therapy series in the ZGYM for any of your chronic or injury related pains.
I finally feel free and ready to rock. That’s why I’m bringing the Beast into my workouts. She’s a 44lb beauty that will help me to build fuller and rounder glutes, strong back, legs and abs .Don’t get me wrong, you can absolutely built a strong, athletic, and gorgeous body with your medium size kettlebell with the workouts we already have. We’ve been doing this for years and it’s been working, but I wouldn’t want to stay in one place and put limits on what we can do. If you do have the option to get your own Beast, go for it. If not, you can still be excited for the brand new AWESOME and supercharged ZGYM workouts – especially the new routines in your favorite Lifted Butt Series next week!!
Now, let’s get to the reasons why you should consider owning and training with a heavy kettlebell.
1. Muscle size – don’t worry ladies, we won’t be growing huge arms and shoulders. We’re going to use the extra weight to put some meat on our glutes.
2. Strength – why would you say no to an obvious benefit.
3. Muscular endurance – the longer you can sustain a high intensity activity the more calories you’ll burn which is helpful in keeping your weight under control. It will also make you faster. Imagine going through some of my most intense ZGYM workouts with minimum breaks and beating your personal bests in time and reps. Your new progress tracker* would be very happy 🙂
*Progress tracker is a new tool for my ZGYM members that allows them to keep track of their workout performance.
Some of you have just started working out with me, so I would suggest you to just get used to working out with your medium size kettlebell and build some stamina. You will know when you’re ready to take it to the next level.
There are many of you guys that have been working out with me for years and I know you’re itching for something that will take your training to the next level. This is it. 2016 is the year we’ll show the world how awesome we can be 🙂 let’s do this!!

Thanks for the link Zuzka! I’ve been thinking the 26lb KB was getting too easy for some exercises but I didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for a heavier one. Just ordered a 40lb KB. I’m excited to use it 🙂

Hi Z!
I can totally relate to your back issues. I had surgery over 13 years ago and was great until I tore my SI joint out of alignment in June 2014, when you were doing a super fun tabata series in the old ZGYM and I had to stop my membership until your new company. It took a full 9 months before I could do any sort of jumping, even jumping jacks. I recovered through physical therapy and ballet barre style workouts that got my spine and posture into proper alignment and strengthened my supporting muscles to keep my SI joint in place. It was a more painful injury than my herniated disc that I had surgery for. With the SI joint, I couldn’t sit down for a month unless I had to drive my son and run errands. I even ate all meals standing up. After slowly easing into more impact and waiting several more months before using external weights I started to progressively use heavier dumbells and eventually started using my kettle bells again. I’m only 5 ft 3 and a small frame, so I push myself, but also want to be careful, given my back history. I’m not ready for the beast, but I have a 35 pound kettle bell waiting in I want to go heavier. When I first rejoined the new ZGYM, I couldn’t do many of the workouts, but now I can do basically all of them, and I am grateful everyday and remind myself to listen to my body and don’t take risks that are not worth it for me. And, I love my pull up bar! I actually hang on it after every workout to stretch out my body and spine, since our discs get compressed by high impact activity. It feels so good to hang and stretch! The other thing I recently got is a hanging heavy bag so I can learn some real boxing techniques. It is so fun! Not sure if you have any interest in doing a heavy bag series 😄. Oh, I love your book and got it for my sister in law, who just had a baby and won’t be able to take the time to go to the gym like she used to. The 30 workout plan is perfect for her! Thanks for all you do!

Salut,
