Low Carb Coconut Chocolate Bonbons (FM)

Recipes | September 08, 2016

LowCarbCoconutChocolateBonbons

*Yields about 16 bonbons; will slightly change depending on the size of your ice tray

Ingredients
3/4 cup coconut manna (it’s a coconut butter)
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup almond butter
3 tbsp unsweetend cacao powder
3-4 tbsp Swerve (powdered)
1/3 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
1-2 scoops of chocolate protein powder (optional if you want to have these as your delicious pre workout snack)

* You don’t have to be exact with the ingredients and feel free to taste as you go to add whatever ingredient you want to your liking. You can also substitute with any nut butter you want and make your own flavor of chocolate.

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients except of the coconut flakes into a medium size bowl and mix until well combined and smooth.
  2. Pour the chocolate into a plastic ice tray – that’s how you get the same size individual bonbons!
  3. Sprinkle the coconut flakes over the top evenly and place the tray into the freezer.
  4. Wait for about 5-7 minutes until the chocolate hardens and then just pop out the bonbons out of the tray whenever you like 🙂

You can also watch my Z-vlog to see how it’s done.

Macros Per Bonbon (includes 1 scoop of chocolate whey protein- will vary depending on whether or not you first choose to use protein powder, and the type of protein powder you’re using):

They are 2 completely different ingredients and would be different consistency and texture. I would not substitute.
I make my own manna. Just put unsweetened shredded coconut into a food processor and let it go for a good 5+ minutes and you’ll see it turn to butter. The natural oils start to come out and it becomes smooth. Only thing is is that it does harden again so you may have to soften it in a microwave before using. Hope that helps!

Hi Dawn! I made these with chunky natural PB and they were really good. Also made some with chopped macadamia nuts instead of coconut. Yummy! 🙂

Yikes! sounds awful. :-/ Same thing happens to me when I have too much dairy. If it doesn’t make you sick, maybe cashew or sunflower butter may work too… good luck! 👍😊

Oh wow! These are delicious!! I just made them and they turned out better than I imagined. I’ve tried to make low-carb chocolate desserts before, but they were never good. This was phenomenal. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. I love that it’s also vegan 😍🤗

    Hi,

There was information about swerve in a coffee talk or post once but I can’t find it. Sugar substitutes are generally harmful, but Zuzka endorses this one and explained why. Can Zuzka or someone please explain why it’s okay versus maple syrup or honey. Thank you!

P.s. I’m loving the new meal plan recipes.

    Chris
