Fit Trip to Sandbox Fitness
Blog | March 31, 2015
If you’ve been following me for a while, you already know that I haven’t stepped into a gym for about 8 years, and I’m ok to continue staying away from such places for years to come. I really love working out at home any time I want, or taking my training outdoors when an opportunity comes up. That’s simply how I’ve been keeping myself in shape, but I have always found the best motivation to be different sports and activities. I believe that being active and social is one of the most effective ways to ignite the spark for a healthy lifestyle. If you have fun being active, you’ll most likely do it again. The more times you do it, the faster it becomes a part of your life. You won’t know what rings your bell until you try it. So hopefully my new series Fit Trip will get you out of the house and motivate you to try different kinds of fitness hustle!
This week I went to Sandbox Fitness in Sherman Oaks, and met with the owners Minna & David who were really nice and showed me their unusual fitness studio and put me through some of the exercises to test my strength, balance and agility. Check out the video below.. and don’t laugh, it was my first time on a surfboard!
If you want to try these fitness classes yourself, check out their website: http://www.sandbox-fitness.com book a class and tell them I said hi! 🙂

Oh my gosh this looks soo fun. zuzka you look like you had a lot of fun. I want this studio! All the good stuff is on the West coast. I got 3 inches of snow this morning in Michigan. I could go for some sand!

I bet you it would do well over there!

Love how they thought outside of the box gym idea. Looked like alot of fun…and challenging!! I think my Montana self would have to get used to dealing with the sand the whole time though.

How fun!! I wish we had a place like that here in Utah, let alone a beach :/ Looks like you had a great time. Makes me want to plan a trip to Cali just so I can give it a try 😉

Utah is on my bucket list! It’s beautiful out there. Maybe you can have a studio like this over there.

Looks fun! I wonder if you could use the Ugi ball in replace of the straps. The Ugi ball would give you that instability and make it harder. I wonder??

Not sure, you’d have to make sure to secure the board from sliding from it…

I was thinking of putting my feet up on the Ugi ball and hands on the ground in a plank position and bring my knees in towards my chest. It would probable only work for a few of the exercise. If I put a board on top I would probable kill myself. In fact I know I would. Lol!
Great post and Thanks for the idea on putting the board up top.
Thanks Zuzka!

I don’t think it’s a good idea to put the board on top of an Ugi ball. I thought it was your idea to do that 🙂 I think that your idea of putting your feet up on an Ugi ball is way better.

That looks so fun!! Wish I lived in SoCal! I’m up in the valley so not much beach around here unless I travel to the Bay Area..

That was cool! Now you have an idea how the beginners feel when doing your workouts – out of balance & struggling to complete , even myself & I’ve been with you for awhile.. but hey, us Warriors – Never.give.up. thank you Z.
