Introducing The Beast
Blog | January 08, 2016
The 2015 was a year of recovery for me. I was recovering in terms of my business, finances, mental health and also my physical health. Mentally, I haven’t given up on myself 🙂 I’m getting better and keeping the crazy under control. Business is great, we’re stable again and I have a lot of great things to look forward to. One of the greatest news is that my back feels amazing again. It took time for me to recover completely from the back issues I had in 2014. I’ve been very diligent with my postural therapy routines and very careful with my workouts, which was essential for my recovery, but it built up enormous tension inside of me. The limitations I had to face were stopping me from training the way I really wanted to. I wanted to use my heavy kettlebell, I wanted to do more challenging exercises, I wanted to get more flexible, but my back kept telling me I wasn’t ready. Getting rid off the stiffness in my lower back, and sciatica pains completely, took months and months of at home therapy. By the way, I have some great routines in my Postural Therapy series in the ZGYM for any of your chronic or injury related pains.
I finally feel free and ready to rock. That’s why I’m bringing the Beast into my workouts. She’s a 44lb beauty that will help me to build fuller and rounder glutes, strong back, legs and abs .Don’t get me wrong, you can absolutely built a strong, athletic, and gorgeous body with your medium size kettlebell with the workouts we already have. We’ve been doing this for years and it’s been working, but I wouldn’t want to stay in one place and put limits on what we can do. If you do have the option to get your own Beast, go for it. If not, you can still be excited for the brand new AWESOME and supercharged ZGYM workouts – especially the new routines in your favorite Lifted Butt Series next week!!
Now, let’s get to the reasons why you should consider owning and training with a heavy kettlebell.
1. Muscle size – don’t worry ladies, we won’t be growing huge arms and shoulders. We’re going to use the extra weight to put some meat on our glutes.
2. Strength – why would you say no to an obvious benefit.
3. Muscular endurance – the longer you can sustain a high intensity activity the more calories you’ll burn which is helpful in keeping your weight under control. It will also make you faster. Imagine going through some of my most intense ZGYM workouts with minimum breaks and beating your personal bests in time and reps. Your new progress tracker* would be very happy 🙂
*Progress tracker is a new tool for my ZGYM members that allows them to keep track of their workout performance.
Some of you have just started working out with me, so I would suggest you to just get used to working out with your medium size kettlebell and build some stamina. You will know when you’re ready to take it to the next level.
There are many of you guys that have been working out with me for years and I know you’re itching for something that will take your training to the next level. This is it. 2016 is the year we’ll show the world how awesome we can be 🙂 let’s do this!!
I found some deals on Amazon that you can take advantage of and get your beasty 44 or 45lb (if you’re an average woman) kettlebell for cheaper price: Kettlebells on Amazon

Hi dear Zuzka,
I´ve being trying to get a dragondoor kb as you suggested once, but unfortunately I have to pay a lot for the shipping. I´ve got a really light kb for me (at least that´s what I think) which is 8 kgs and I need a 30 lbs or around. You should watch me doing your kb workouts wearing a pair of gloves with some extra weight :S
I was extremely happy when I saw this article from you recommending amazon´s kb but I´m about crying because they do not have deliverings to Toluca city in Mexico.
What can I do because, a kb is what I want and need the most at this moment and I´m frustrated because I just can´t get it. I have about 8 months or more wishing I could get it :´(
I don´t want to buy whatever brand because I always do what you suggest 🙁

Brand doesn’t really matter, just make sure they are made out of Cast Iron. Try to look around Amazon, because some companies will ship everywhere. If not Amazon, then I’m pretty sure you can find them on eBay and probably at a really good price.

Hi Zuzka,
why do they need to be cast iron? For me the number one thing to watch is the diameter of the handle. I got a 12kg KB that what too wide (suited for a larger, man’s hand). Luckily it was cover with plastic and I could use a Dremel to grate some mm away to make the handle smaller.

The cast iron kettlebells have always been the “original” russian kettlebells are usually consistent with the weight and design. You can into problems with the kettlebell that use vinyl coating, because some manufacturers use the vinyl to cover up their manufacturing techniques and material used. You can run into some cheaply made kettlebells that are not even the weight they say they are. The vinyl coating can also grab your skin in certain exercises and positions and make the training uncomfortable that way. If you
need a thinner handle than the kettlebell you can trust would be competition kettlebells you can find here: http://www.kettlebellsusa.com/14-kg-31lb-paradigm-pro-classic-steel-competition-kettlebell-free-shipping.html

I ordered online and had it shipped to store through Walmart. That way you don’t pay shipping. Can’t remember what I paid but I shopped around and it was a good deal.

Hola Krista

You must be really relieved after all these months of struggle and suffering … I’m happy you’re where you are now, patience is key 🙃
I don’t think I’m ready for the beast, my 12kg KB is already way too heavy for me for some workouts 😬 I’m gonna stick with it a little longer until I feel ready 😋

Okay now I’m really tempted to get my own beast. Although I do feel like I just spent the money to move up from 20 lbs to 25lbs not very long ago. AND I don’t want to bulk up my arms…so you said strictly for our glutes? Oh so tempting. I loved lifted butt series. I’ve repeated it on the Sundays and now I’m 1/2 way through doing the whole thing a third time. That is the one area I’m still not completely satisfied with yet. I think I just made up my mind. I need a beast !!! 🙂

Or just wait until you do some of the new workouts and watch me use The Beast. Then you can decide. Like I said, I don’t want to put any more meat on my arms, just butt 🙂

I just bought a 16 kg kettlebell. I wonder if that’s enough 🙁

That depends. The Beasty kettlebell is the kind you can’t press overhead. It’s so heavy that you can only do KB swings with it.

the only move for now that I believe could really go way heavier are deadlifts. The limitation will not be on glutes or back, but the formarm and hand strength it take to hold and lift that heavy. I have been using DB to achieve this thus far. (and totally easily 22kg).
For the rest, sometimes 8kg is well enough (overhead press) and then my 12kg is just fine for swing.
If I want a 9 or 10kg, I will had some sand wrist weight around the KB handle 🙂

I’ve got 15kg KB from last year, it still making me penting away and heart rate rushing up each time using it. So am sticking to it for a while. I use different weights for different exercise ranging from 7 kg DB, 10 kg KB to15 kg KB. Still need to build lots of strength before any upgrade on the wonder ‘beast’ :))
And i definitely agree totally that patience is key!!! still learning that:) However, i’m not giving up, working all the time to achieve my fitness goal and to see more results. Mentally (most difficult for me), physically, dietary, and etc.
Good luck to all warriors in 2016, hope we all achieve some if not all of our fitness goals.
Go, go, go, warriors!
Have a great day everyone.

Happy New Year, Zuzka! Be healthy and always full of energy, inventiveness and challenges, as you are! We love you!
I can’t switch to the heavier KB – for now 26 pounds are good enough for me. But I promise one day I will catch you and the rest of you, warriors, who pass to the next level today!
Have a great year, warriors!
Magda, keep my fingers crossed!

My bf keeps telling me I need to go up in my weight. I have a 26 lb. currently. I just get scared that I will drop it!

Don’t be afraid. We won’t be pressing it overhead 🙂 The Beast is strictly to work our glutes, so a lot of KB swings and other lower body exercises. I don’t think you’ll drop it if you’re already handling the 26lb just fine.

Ugh, recovery time can be so frustrating! That’s awesome everything is settling down (especially pain-wise)! Oo, I can’t wait to see the new series, too!!
The last few weeks I’ve been thinking about looking into getting a heavier kettlebell! While 25 lbs is plenty heavy for the arm moves for me, I can tell I’m ready for something heavier for regular swings. The price tag has scared me away! Hmmmm, maybe while they’re on sale, though….!
