Cellulite
Health | April 06, 2015
Ladies, we definitely need to get over our OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Behavior) with cellulite. It’s not a disease or a flaw or the result of losing out on the genetic lottery. It’s also not an indication of being out of shape or unhealthy unless you know for certain that your body fat percentage is less than ideal and that you need to shed some pounds. There are much more important signs of being out of shape and unhealthy then some cellulite on our buns or thighs.
Upwards of 90 percent of women have cellulite. From overweight to skinny to athletic (yes athletic!) women have cellulite. It’s just how we are made.
Cellulite has more to do with the nature of our skin than anything else. As Vanessa Bennington points out in a great piece on cellulite and female athletes, the structure of skin for men (and very few women) tends to behave like a compression sock while for most women the skin behaves like a pair of fishnet stockings. In other words, a man could conceivably have more fat on his thighs than a woman, yet the woman would have cellulite because what little fat she may have still pokes through the gaps due to the structure of her skin. Again, it’s just how we are made.
It’s really too bad that magazines, TV shows and blogs obsess about cellulite and insist on shaming celebrities as well as everybody else for having some. Even worse, those ideas and images can get into our heads and have a terrible affect on our sense of self and wellbeing. That, in turn, shifts our focus away from true health and wellbeing and toward neurotically obsessing over things that are, in fact, normal. Never mind the fact that in this day and age of photoshop we rarely get to see what real, strong women actually look like in the first place!
All those creams and weird brushes that promise to get rid of cellulite are just pointless gimmicks. What we should really be focusing on is eating healthy and kicking butt at the ZGYM. Diet and exercise go a long way in ridding our bodies of unhealthy fat and, therefore, diminishing the amount of cellulite we may have. Again though, don’t obsess over it!
Let me now what you think about cellulite and how you got over it (or are getting over it). 🙂

“It’s my worst nightmare.
I think about cellulite all the time. And it beats me down even if I’m thin.
I follow your program each day without give up and I admit the aspect of my skin is getting better. Thank you zuzka. Because you give me hope and good results are coming.
Unfortunately some cellulite will remain…
It’s a kind of punishment for us girls. “

I just have these 3 huge dimples on my ass, which since doing squats, have become much more noticeable. But, I’m getting a firmer ass, and it still looks great 🙂 also, I have had stretch marks since becoming a ‘woman’ (age 13) they really don’t bother me. What bothered me was how over weight I used to be. Now I’m quite the healthy weight even though according to bmi I’m overweight, but I have the biggest, strongest legs out of all the women I know, and they’re incredibly jealous. Thank you horse riding and Thai boxing as a child :))

I read that developing muscles can make it look better because then the fat has something to form to and it gets even.
I got cellulite on my butt, I don’t like it but I’m not crying about it. Or sometimes I feel better soemtimes worse about it.. but I guess as long as you eat healthy and do proper exercise you feel better and look better 🙂

Right on. So true. We can’t start embracing ourselves early enough in life, including absolutely everything about ourselves, no matter what media etc. is trying to make us think as beautiful or not. I think this page is about fitness and feeling good about ourselves, which is far away from outside beauty, but somehow so easily gets mixed up with it! I am over forty now, and I start having wrinkles and “tired” skin (even though people usually estimate me 10 years younger than I am, probably due to my fitness and positive attitude). So I am blessed by nature, short legs, little cellulite and thin hair inclusive! Getting older is something that will happen to all of us and it has lots to do with how we deal with beauty. If we depend on outside beauty to feel good, we are doomed. If we depend on inside beauty, we actually get better with age! Besides, I always decided that the people who judge us badly because of outside flaws (although I refuse to call wrinkles and cellulite a flaw!) are not worth our true friendship anyway, and I will definitely not let them influence my self-confidence. Seriously, start concentrating on true beauty, and you will get to know nicer people and enjoy life so much more! Set the priorities where they are worth it and it will make your whole life better… Happy Easter everybody!

What you wrote Katja is so true. A womans beauty comes from the inside. You put it very nicely and I agree with you 100%. When a person is beautiful on the inside it shows on the outside.

Agreed!

It’s kind of ridiculous but since I do a lot more squats and lunges than ever before, and my bod is tightening, the cellulite is getting MORE visible. I just got to live with it I guess!

Same here!! I had a baby 7 months ago and I don’t have as much time as before to exercise. I’ve been doing shorter but intense workouts for about a month now, my body fat is aprox. 19% and cellulite looks worse!!! I still have to loose 8 more pounds to get back to my pre baby weight but even if I lose the weight I’m afraid I won’t look the same thanks to the stubborn thing!

omg girls same with me! I started working out 3-4 times per week about 3 years ago. Even though one can tell that I work out the cellulite looks worse than before… to me it looks as if the muscles that I’ve build are trying to push out the cellulite haha and I hate it! I mean I’m not ashamed for it but sometimes when I have an “ugly-day” I feel very uncomfy and the cellulite makes it worse 🙁

Celulite sucks and we all wish we didn’t have it. that’s the truth
But what many girls don’t realize is: the hottest women on the planet that we see on magazines, are not that hot because their picture is photoshopped! so we’re looking for a perfection that not even the hottest women on the planet have attained! how crazy is that? obsessing over something that doesn’t exist?

So do YOU have cellulite?

Z is so lean so if she does I’m so surprised!

she has and there’s also an old coffee talk from the bodyrock-times existing where she’s talking about cellulite and that she also has some. I mean, which woman does really not have it???

I have a little bit of cellulite on my butt 🙂 haha the good news is that I used to have cellulite on the back of my legs but it got a lot better when I cut down significantly on simple sugars. I used to earn a lots of chocolate and other sugary treats with my workouts, but since I’ve stopped that I’ve noticed the difference on my skin all over.

Darn, I know I should stop eating sweets but I can’t at this point. Stress eating appears to mean more to me than trying to get rid of my cellulite

I read that cellulite was due to toxins.
I do practice ridding my body of toxins….on a regular basis.
I use dry skin brushing which I have read is really good for cellulite. It’s super easy and cheap…
you just invest in a natural boar bristle brush (super cheap off Amazon) and then you use it before you get into the shower.
I also eat lots of real foods….including greens each and I think that helps as well.
My reasoning for doing this is based on health however.
I agree with what Zuzka’s saying. I would rather focus on health and finding perfection in my imperfections!!!
I don’t want to get caught up in what society is saying I need to “look like”. I want to make my own rules for that.

it may have started with a wish to get rid of your cellulitis, but in the end you are doing things that is improving your health.Brushing skin help to remove dead cells and triggering new cell growth…why wouldn’t we to stop doing this? getting rid of toxings? why would we want to stop doing this?…as for doing the gym to get slimmer…in the end by doing gym , we get a better health. The look is the just the cherry on the cake 😉
