Low Carb Coconut Chocolate Bonbons (FM)

Recipes | September 08, 2016

LowCarbCoconutChocolateBonbons

*Yields about 16 bonbons; will slightly change depending on the size of your ice tray

Ingredients
3/4 cup coconut manna (it’s a coconut butter)
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup almond butter
3 tbsp unsweetend cacao powder
3-4 tbsp Swerve (powdered)
1/3 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
1-2 scoops of chocolate protein powder (optional if you want to have these as your delicious pre workout snack)

* You don’t have to be exact with the ingredients and feel free to taste as you go to add whatever ingredient you want to your liking. You can also substitute with any nut butter you want and make your ownย flavor of chocolate.

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients except of the coconut flakes into a medium size bowl and mix until well combined and smooth.
  2. Pour the chocolate into a plastic ice tray – that’s how you get the same size individual bonbons!
  3. Sprinkle the coconut flakes over the top evenly and place the tray into the freezer.
  4. Wait for about 5-7 minutes until the chocolate hardens and then just pop out the bonbons out of the tray whenever you like ๐Ÿ™‚

You can also watch my Z-vlog to see how it’s done.

Macros Per Bonbon (includes 1 scoop of chocolate whey protein- will vary depending on whether or not you first choose to use protein powder, and the type of protein powder you’re using):

I usually make this with peanut butter and protein powder. This is the only chocolate I eat now, and it tastes better every time i make it. thanks Zuzka!

Omg, I’m making these tomorrow. Can’t wait to try them. I may put a whole almond in half the batch to compare.

I made these last week and they were so delicious! I had to improvise all little since I didn’t have coconut manna but they turned out perfect. My batch made 10 cubes and I have one left. I’ve gotta try them with different flavors like cashew or pecan. ๐Ÿ™‚

I made these after seeing them in your vlog earlier in the week. Well…minus the coconut flakes, since I didn’t have them on hand. I used coconut extract and it was amaaaaaaaazing! I’ll bet orange extract would be superb, too — I LOVE orange chocolate! OH, all the variations!!! I can’t wait to get coconut flakes, ’cause that would just be even better!!! Oh my gosh, these are SO good! I’ve been looking for ways to slip in extra protein as well, so these are PERFECT!! LOL and a bonus: Several years ago, I got a freebie chocolate mold from thinkgeek and now I finally have a use for it (So there’s currently a bunch of no-sugar chocolates shaped as han solo in carbonite in our freezer! lol!)

Ok, I think I have to pull one out right now! ๐Ÿ˜€

Christin, what a fabulous idea with substituting the coconut flakes and adding extracts instead! I generally don’t keep coconut flakes on hand, but have a ton of pure extracts in a bunch of flavors in my pantry so I’m going to try orange, banana, mint, almond, coconut, hazelnut and more. Awesome idea, thanks!!!

Oh my gosh, I’ll bet banana would be amazing!! OOOO and mint!! I want to try those next! I tried almond extract along with almond chunks, and that one was super-good! ๐Ÿ˜€

I made these this morning. Love the coconut flavor. I subbed slivered almonds for the coconut. So easy, so delicious. Also didn’t have Swerve so I used Birch Xylitol. Next time I’m going to use grated orange peel, dried cranberries and slivered almonds and skip the coconut manna, just for a different flavor. Thank you Zuzka for all you do. xoxo

I don’t have coconut manna, but it still worked out (ha, ha) nicely without. I did also a version with cashew nut butter (quite sweet so it taste yummy) I like that the sugar doesn’t melt and gives a crunchiness to the texture.
I like to add Cayenne pepper in the chocolate I make, sometimes I mix it with cinnamon too. Nice combination with drinking coffee.
