Evil Ab Exercises
Fitness | May 30, 2014
I have been putting together awesome ab workouts for the Zgym lately using all kinds of great exercises that will target those muscles in your midsection and raise up your heart rate at the same time. I love when they’re challenging and require extra endurance, strength, or agility. Call me crazy, but It just makes it a lot more fun for me 🙂 In this video I show you some of the fun exercises that I include into my workouts on a regular basis and one exercise that is completely evil for how innocent it looks. The walking elbow plank is not at as easy as it looks. Watch the video and give it a try!
Walking Elbow Plank
Get into the plank and support yourself with elbows. Make sure that your elbows are directly underneath your shoulders and your hands are pointing straight forward. Start at the edge of your exercise mat so that you have only your forearms on the mat. Keep your body in one straight line without dropping your hips or pushing them up. Start taking mini steps forward and walk up the exercise mat until you reach the end of it. Make sure that you are not bending your knees too much, because that would make your hips go up which you want to avoid. Also make sure that you are not twisting your hips side to side and keep your hips leveled with the ground instead. Once you reach the end of the mat, reverse the movement and walk backwards to the starting position. Walking one full length of the exercise mat counts as one rep. Try to do 10 reps and let me know how you feel! My abs were on fire when I did this exercise and it totally caught me by surprise.
Have fun,
Z.

Walking plank is really challenging workout when it is done with proper form. You should try a little variation next time that makes it even harder. You are still in plank position but place some small mat or piece of something under your feet and then the whole movement is done only through your elbows and you are pulling your legs behind you. For me this is one of the hardest exercises.

Am I doing it wrong if my arms got tired before my abs did?

Awesome. Any hints about doing ab splitters? What am I doing wrong if my tailbone hurts when doing this exercise?
Thank you for all you do for your warriorZ.

Get a softer thicker mat. I had the same problem because my mat was too thin. I got this mat form Amazon.com HemingWeigh Extra Thick Foam Exercise Mat and no problems ever since.

Thank you. I will check into it. I have been trying to modify all the ab workouts into some standing form to alleviate the discomfort.

Hi, Zuzka.
My son has helped me randomly combine repetitions as:
– 12(*2) mounting …,
– 8(*3) AB exercises,
– 10 clapping pushups
– 1 blank walk
and repetitions for 15 minutes
I’ve made 3 repetitions.
Quite challenging, especially ABs.
Plank walk is nice and interesting. The 1-st repetition was most challenging. The last one had seems easy after ABs (^__^). May be I would try make Plank walk twice for 1 reps, but I am not sure.
Thank you for your fantastic workouts.

I have a problem with my account and there is no customer service contact information for me to use to get this resolved. I’ve been charged $26 the last 2 months in a row and now being asked to pay again. This is ridiculous! This site is not being properly managed which is a shame since zuzka is amazing. I will not pay any more money to this site that has ZERO customer service. I’ve already been ripped off.

I did 6 rounds of these 3 exercises in 50/10 after 25 circuits of Rock Solid Abs Workout (9.06.14) + 2 circuits of How to get Rid of Flabby Arms (2.06.14) in 8 min.
Yesterday I tried Walking Elbow Plank after my workout and I could do only 3 full reps in 2 minutes. It wa killing. I will practice more.
