Warrior Wednesday - How to Keep Yourself in Shape When Traveling
Fitness | June 08, 2016
I just came back from my 2 week vacation in the Czech Republic on Friday so I wanted to share with you some tips on how you can keep yourself in shape when you travel. I think there’s a difference between someone who’s constantly on the road for work and someone who goes for vacation every once in a while. If you belong to the category of constant travelers, then you should make a better plan to keep yourself in shape because that’s your day to day life so it’s important to develop a sustainable routine that works for you.
If you’re someone that has a daily routine and just goes to a vacation here and there like myself, then you don’t have to stress it as much and keep yourself in shape with these simple tips:
If you want to order my book “15 Minutes to Fit” to have a bodyweight workout program and a nutrition guide with you, when you travel, you can do that on Amazon here.
I bought my jump rope at RogueFitness.com
You can get the power bands that I use on Amazon.com
The massage ball can be purchased at InjuryBeGone.com

A very practical approach to exercise for those in tight spaces and time. Five minutes is really manageable. I feel I get in a mindset when I am on vacation or I am not able to workout in an environment I am used to that I should give up on my workout. When I do that though I get all grumpy and feel guilty that I didn’t workout. Then I end up not really enjoying my trip.
BTW I absolutely love my power band. Thank you for suggesting it Zuzka!

you forgot to mention that you can do this in your PJ (or underwear ) without make-up 🙂 ( so it eliminates the time to change clothes and get “neat”)
then it all looks like I actually do it at home, ha, ha!
Also you can save time to stretch while taking your shower. If you really want it, you can find a way.
I do moves in smaller places than a prisoner’s cell : our office bathroom (now …there you have to be inventive!! )

Hahaha, Zuzka, you always say the perfect things for me to tell myself in the middle of a workout when I question why I’m doing this, “There are people who work out in jail! No excuses.”

Can that massage ball be used in place of a foam roller? It looks easier to store.

Yes it can. It provides more aggressive massage so you’re going to feel it a lot more. You might want to apply less pressure than you’re used to with your big foam roller.

Oooh, that sounds good! Thanks!

That’s right! You see those jailbirds in the movies come out all buff from doing tricep dips and push ups in their tiny cells. Hehe.

Nice tips! I’m going to take with my jump rope, power band and massage ball on my next vacation. My boyfriend is worring about how much I will take with. I’ve said him: “I will take my two kettlebells, dumbells.. also pull up and necessarily yoga blocks!” 😀
But would you like to show some workouts exactly with JR and power band? Or.. You may form a kind of a vacation series. 🙂 But all of your body series fit for vacation.

the dresser in your hotel is so cute. The way the dresser is created it looks like it has a super cute smiley face!
Thank you for the tips, It’s amazing how over the years I’ve been able to workout in different size spaces. Even to the point that when people around me say “i can’t workout in my room/my living room/ect. because there’s not enough room” I just shake my head and say that it’s plenty.
However, of course, I’ve learned that, when following your schedule there are some workouts that do need some space. Like when doing broad jump burpees, for example.

I saw the yellow equalizer in the background. Will you be using it in future workouts? I have one and love it!

I just got back from a trip to Vegas for my boys basketball tournament. The hotel we stayed in had 14 floors so each day I climbed those 4 times, did 25 push ups, dips and jump lunges and was good to go!

I love that you posted this. Just about to take my first trip alone from Massachusetts to Lousiana. Any tips for working out in extremely hot weather conditions though?
