ZWOW #5
Fitness | January 13, 2015
Hi guys,
Here’s another one of the older ZWOW routines. This one is great for ALL LEVELS and really good for beginners. It’s quite easy and chill workout. I think it’s a great recovery routine that I’m sure you’ll enjoy after the past 2 days of high intensity training.
On another note, I was thinking about doing some new Coffee Talk videos and I was wondering if there’s anything you’d like me to discuss. I will appreciate any ideas and your suggestions.
Best,
Z.
Workout Breakdown:
1. Bicep curl to overhead press x 10
2. Med Ball mountain climbers x 30
3. Sumo Dead lift high pull x 10
4. Comp Burpees x 5

Cool Down & Stretching
12 minute AMRAP. Go through this circuit as many times as possible and don’t stop until the 12 minute countdown is up. What counts is the amount of reps total.

Just what I needed after these last two workouts xD….for a coffee talk – Id love to know how do you recover? Besides stretching etc, what are the ways how to handle stretched muscle etc? thanks! π

I would like to hear about the short intense workouts. Are these enough? Should we be doing 2 a day? Should we be adding additional cardio or other forms of fitness? I guess reassurance for those who have been told you need 2 hours a day, etc.
Also, diet and what others have said about your journey to get to where you are now with fitness and diet. Also, what do you feel about intermittent fasting. I am sure there is more, but i will stop there! lol

How about a coffee talk about not letting the scale discourage you? I checked my weight this morning and discovered I’ve lost five pounds in five weeks. I stepped away telling myself I can totally handle this information, but it’s been eating away at me ever since. Five pounds? What the freaking hey! I’ve got this voice whispering, “Okay, I can eat less. No eating after seven. Maybe work out twice a day. Fast for a few days…” All in this big psychotic loop.
I’ve dropped a jean size. My stomach is flatter, my legs are slimmer and I’m building a lot of strength. I feel good and the mirror says I look good. Maybe some advice on getting over this number obsession. I could sure use it.

I refuse to step on a scale because of precisely this feeling of discouragement that overcomes me when I see the number…even though rationally I KNOW it’s muscle mass, not fat, because I am slimmer and more toned than I have ever been. But in my head, I still have this ideal number of what I want to weigh. Personally, I’ve ditched the scale a long time ago and decided to just trust my body. How do clothes fit, how do I feel, what do I see in the mirror? That is really what I want anyway – feeling and looking good. Why need a scale for that? π

Paula, you’re so right! It’s amazing how a number can make you think all the differences you’ve noticed have been your imagination the whole time. I’ve woken up each morning excited to see each little change. Every workout I can push harder, do fewer modifications, take fewer breaks. That scale may just have to make friends with my trash can today.

I agree with what you think about the scale. but i still check everyday as i use it as a guideline to see how i did the day before. So then i get the feedback of especially food i had and see if there is any difference. Am using it as a tool besides using clothes fitting . Maybe this is silly idea haha.

How about a coffee talk about protein and protein powders to explain how much protein you eat and when/how you supplement with a protein powder.

I agree! There are so many protein powders out there, it is hard to tell what to look for when trying to choose the healthiest option.

I would really love to find out more about you as a person, but I’m not sure that’s what you want to share on your professional website π I’m so curious what your family is like, what they think about your success, how you feel about living so far away from your home country, what you do with your friends for fu . And I guess also how you look back on your fitness journey, what mistakes you have made in terms of nutrition, how your approach to fitness has evolved (even though you still do HIIT, you no longer do some of the exercises that were a staple of BR). And this question I’d really like an answer to: how in the world have you gone for 3+ years without any vacation????? π

Haha I love the last sentence! I’m asking myself the same exact question π

I like the idea of more coffee talks. I remember once you explaining that losing/gaining weight could be a good or bad thing based on where you were at and that scale weight was not the best indicator of fitness/health. I think a lot of fitness stuff is very targeted on losing weight and spin that as the only goal. I know someone like you who has a lot of muscle understands that since muscle weighs more than fat volume-wise, gaining weight is nothing to be concerned about if your body composition is still where you want it or improving. I think it would be a good topic because misunderstanding this can lead to unhealthy practices for some people.

Personally, I’d like you to talk about how having a “strict” lifestyle can affect your social life, and how to deal with it. That’s a real struggle for me, but I find that it’s even easier for me as I can’t eat certain food due to my allergies, so it’s not as if I was really imposing my diet to anyone because I kinda have no choice, but I mean, if you really want it to work, you can’t really compromise isn’t it ? If I could eat the things I don’t eat, I wouldn’t want to eat them because they would sabotage my diet, but sometimes, when you’re at parties or that you’re at the restaurant, you can’t really say “no” when you’re not allergic or intolerant … or you feel embarrassed at least I already get a lot of comments when I say that I can’t eat this or that, I mean it’s not always mean because people feel sorry for me haha, but they’re complaining because I can’t go to certain kind of restaurants (creperie or so) … so it must be really hard when it is just by choice because, in this case, people will criticize you’re lifestyle and say that you’re annoying because you don’t want to eat fondue ! I don’t know if I’m clear, but you’re diet is very strict, and you’re exercising daily, so it requires commitment, time and consistency … so I was wondering if you compromise or how do you do to make other people accept it smoothly ? If I didn’t have allergies, I would be so f*cked hahaha
I thought it could be interesting for you to talk about this issue because I feel like social life can be a cause of failure in term of diet … (I’m really happy to be allergic right now haha).
Yeah now, I’m going to stop talking and start acting because I really need to get my workout done before heading out ! LOVE

you are so right, why cant people just be supportive? I had three months of no alcohol last year around this time and the stupid comments were everywhere! If things were the way they should be, everyone should be questioning people who eat processed foods, no vegetables, soda, etc etc, but it’s left to us making healthy choices that have to defend ourselves!

This is exactly my point Nikki ! I’m not even talking about alcohol it’s even dumber ! Like you say, if you don’t drink, when it’s not mean comments, you get questions, like it’s not normal … but why is it in this way and not the other one ? Why don’t I say anything when people do drink ? So yeah, it’s a real real struggle in everyday life because it’s so present that you’re near from apologizing for not drinking.

What I do my diet is to choose healthy diet as much as possible. I find it hard with family and to try to eat clean.I’m not 100%but i try as much as possible without beating myself up. how i deal with people’s comments about me is to ignore them. i believe i don’t depend on their opinion on how i lead my life. That helps me to feel good about myself. My motto is ‘who cares what they think’ . As long as I’m happy with myself.

That’s really true Carmen, and that’s a healthy way to live π

ABSOLUTELY do I have this problem! I often find it hard to find an agreement between clean eating and having a social life. People always comment when I choose a healthy option, typically “Are you on a diet?” I try portion control, but then feel bad to leave the food behind that I paid for (in my country a lot of restaurants and cafes don’t do doggie bags yet). I’m also very interested in how Zuzka deals with this. Great question Manon!

Exactly ! I find it kinda unfair that we have to compromise, you see what you have to do to fulfill your goals ? All that you have to think about ? “What are they going to say ? What am I going to answer ? What am I going to choose on the menue so maybe it can look like I’m not on a diet so I won’t get comments” haha that’s ridiculous π !
I love being committed and strict with myself, that’s really rewarding to have the best results when you know how hard you worked to get there, I don’t want to get back do you ? Haha ^^ I want to know what Zuzka thinks about it too, and it’s a pretty wide topic π
Thanks Paula π have a nice day !

Enjoyed this one, still hard if you push yourself. I did 5 rounds plus everything but the burpees in the 6th round. I used 20lb KB and 8lb DB. Will use 10lb DB next time I think. I have major arm envy Zuzka!
