How Much Do You Spend on Skin Care?
Fashion & Beauty | June 11, 2014
The idiom “you get what you pay for” means something that is very low in price is not usually of very good quality. Like with everything, sometimes it’s true, sometimes it’s not. We all have our own experiences and points of view as customers. Do you think that you really get what you pay for when it comes to skin care products, and how much do you spend on a good quality moisturizer?
Everyone has their own skin care rituals. Some people use the same exact product for years and would not even think about trying anything new. Some like to experiment and go from product to product regardless of the price. How about you? Do you have your own favorite skin care products? What are your rituals and what is the price range that you are willing to consider when shopping for your creams and serums?

I don’t believe in skin care products. They all contain a shitload of chemicals which can cause allergies and even cancer! I haven’t used them for years, instead I buy organic coconut or almond oil, beeswax and Shea butter, blend it and apply it on my skin all over. I even use it as a hair treatment. Works wonders. For my face I use very little since too much oil can cause pimples. I use coconut oil for make up removal. I usually buy chemical free make up. I only use stuff on my eyes, blush and lipstick/gloss- no actual powders or makeup to let the skin breathe. I am almost 32 now and have no wrinkles yet, and I believe what I am doing is working for me. But each to their own. Hugs

who has wrinkles at 32 ?..wait 10 more years and maybe a bunch of kids and sleepless nights…age will catch up (I am like you, with the make-up even not used…;)

Hi there! Do you have an idea of how much of each of those you use? I love the idea of coconut oil for makeup removal, does that work with mascara as well???

I use cold pressed coconut oil to take makeup and clean my face. I have sensitive/oily skin and it keeps my face in balance. At age 34, I get pimples on occasion so I use frankincense essential oils and they are gone in the morning. My new obsession is Frank coffee body scrub, it is beyond amazing.

As is evident in Zuzka’s skin since she has cut out sugar and refined carbs, and drinks a lot of water, it is what you put IN to your body that reveals itself in your skin, no matter how much $$ you spend on cosmetics. I use minimal products, and try to drink a lot of water with lemon which I truly believe makes a huge difference!

Keys-soap is my favorite…created by a skin cancer survivor….I’m allergic to coconut oil and they don’t use it in their products…$75-80 for face wash, anti-aging oil, eye cream, lotion….they have the best sunscreen!

I have some aloe vera products, not expensive and it works for me 🙂
For $144 I have:
Cleanser
Rehydrating Toner
Firming Day Lotion
Recovering Night Creme
Mask Powder
Activator (mixing with the mask powder)
Sometimes, I watch a TV show that tests all kinds of products and often luxury brands are the worst and most expensive. So it is very interesting as a reference to guide us in the choices.

I used to be a product junkie, spending too much of my hard-earned income at Sephora, Ulta, etc. A few months ago, I went natural & minimalist & my skin has never been better.
Morning: ‘cleanse’ with raw honey
Evening: I blend a little organic castor oil & avocado oil in my palms, massage into my skin, and remvoe with a cool, damp cloth. Then I use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliating liquid (this really keeps blemishes away.)
In general, I think that you pay for packaging, not necessarily what’s inside. The ingredients in high-end/department store products are not that different than those found in drugstore brands.

I use Michael Todd True Organics, I love them I tried so many others but I love these ones. I buy the complete regimens so it’s about $70- $85 for 5 or 6 products

I used to spend a lot on skin care products (like 300$ for a miracle cream which after all did ok job for my mum), because I had acne and didn’t know what to do with it. Half a year ago I discovered Paula’s Choice and now stick to it, ordering everything from US – this way it costs much less than in EU. My moisturizers are around 25$ each, besides cleanser and tonic I also use couple of serums, 2% BHA lotion, couple of masks. If to combine all the products at my daily/evening routine, it will be around 140$ which lasts for 2-3 months. It works for me much better then 3 times more expensive products – my skin is glowing now.
Also I drink 1l of my favorite neperliva Magnesia every day, starting a day with water and organic green tea. Healthy eating, workouts, good sleep, nice mood – maybe it helps even better than cosmetics :).
Best wishes from Czech! xx

Aspirin and honey mixed. You take non-coated aspirin, let it soak in a little bit of water, then mix that with honey. 50/50 mix. It is the best thing I have ever tried. It lightens the skin tone, reduces my redness, and the salicylic acid in aspirin destroys black grads on your nose. It scrubs, cleans, moisturizers in one. I gave dry skin, and this mixture has made me look about a decade younger. It got rid of crows feet around my eyes. Every morning and night I do it.
Also, egg whites and toilet paper. I know, sounds odd. Egg whites on your face, civerage them with toilet paper, let it dry completely, peel it off. It is a mask that removes blackheads, and moister users your skin.
Of corse, the number one best thing that makes your skin look better us running or cardio excersize.

What type of honey do you use and how do you crush the aspirin? Sounds interesting…

Oh typos, sorry. They’re from my iPads auto-correct.
