Light Foundation for Acne Free Skin
Fashion & Beauty | November 16, 2014
I’ve been looking for the a new foundation that would be non-acnegenic, light, hydrating and also environmental. I wear make up almost every day and even when I workout, because I want to look good on video and I really don’t like blemishes and uneven skin tone on my face. The problem that I’ve had with my foundations is that they would sometimes clog my pores and cause acne. My skin would also get dry and itchy, so I realized that no matter how good it looks on camera, it’s not really worth it. I needed to move to something more healthy and natural for my skin. I did a little research on companies to see what’s available to me for my budget and my personal needs. I found Aveda. It’s not that Aveda is new to me, because I’ve tried their hair products before which are awesome, but I’ve never tried their make up line before.
Funny story, I went to the Aveda store in Studio City and a really nice blond girl with a thick accent welcomed me to the store and started introducing me to their products. Then she asked me where I’m from. I said Czech republic and she started to speak Czech to me, which made me so happy that I had to give her a hug. Jesse was watching the entire conversation and started laughing , because he thought it was strange that I didn’t notice the similarity, and not just with the accent but also her features and mannerism. Apparently I’m a different person around Czechs – more relaxed. Maybe I have still some insecurities about my english, I don’t know π but Β back to make ups..
I purchased the Inner Light mineral tinted oil free moisturizer. It provides broad spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays. It’s really that hydrating and moisturizing as they advertise it to be and it really does feel so light that you can’t feel it on your skin. It also looks really natural as if your skin just looked that smooth and even. No make up – cake up anymore. The other thing I like is that this company is constantly striving to make their products as natural as possible from actual plants and other natural sources. They also don’t test their products on animals, like other big companies which makes me feel way better as a customer.
What make up foundation do you use?

I use the foundation of collistar but I would take a foundation that I hide a Po acne I have …

Thanks for this post Zuzka. I use Clinique but I would like to switch brands because of strange chemical ingredients and animal testing. Also, Clinique is very expensive. I know Aveda strives to be environmentally conscious so I think I will try their make up. Thanks!

Hi Zoe, really .. do not use Clinique.. they work in such unethical ways in many different points.. Of course, I cannot tell anyone what to use but I just had to say it. And it is really not good, not at all for your skin on the long term because the chemicals “go down into” our body. They dont remain on the surface / skin which was clear to me for a very long time actually. I love and use LUSH for example..and feel so good like never ever before =]

Just so you know…Lush uses parabens and many of them and uses heavy perfumes that are chemical. Just thought I’d warn you.

I’m from Slovakia and live in UK and I can always tell when I meet someone from Czech Republic or Slovakia, I recognize the accent. Few years ago I came across one of your video on YouTube and your accent was what got me interested cos I had to find out if I’m right about you being Czech:) and here I am few years later still doing your workouts:)

Haha, funny story ! I guess it’s normal to feel more relaxed when something or someone remind you of something you know. For instance, if you get a new job in a city you don’t know, if one of your new colleague tells you he lives where you do too, you instantly connect with this person because you have that thing in common that allows you to rely on something you know in this place that you’re not familiar with. And I think it has to do with our “comfort zone” ;), when in a new environment, we are out of it, that’s why when something comes out of the blue and reminds us of something we know, or home, we have like this instant of relief, like we just put a foot back into our comfort zone.
Anyway, you were talking about foundation here hahaha. I’ve been using natural products for a long time now, and I can’t stress enough how it’s made a big difference. Like you say, some products can clog our pores and make us break out, but even if that’s not the case (that wasn’t for me), I switched to natural products because I’m aware that a little part of anything that we put on our skin goes into our bloodstream, and some of them are really bad. I use Dr Hauschka and RMS beauty’s products because the ingredients they put in there are AMAZING ! It’s a bit pricy, but a little goes a long way, and it’s like putting skincare products instead of makeup ! Plus, you can work your way to a light to heavy coverage makeup.

I love rms and I am really trying to be mindful when choosing brands π I am still on a search for the best natural brand mascara but never feel satisfied!

So good to hear that, same here :D. I’m using Dr Hauschka’s volume mascara, I have to say that I’m not perfectly happy with it, it’s really wet so you have to be careful once you applied it and to let it dry a bit or you’ll mess up your eye makeup haha. I also tried the RMS Beauty volume mascara, but it does not give volume at all. Anyway, the ingredients in both are so amazing that I’m sticking with them anyway, they still do a pretty good job, especially the Dr Hauschka’s one ! Did you try it ?

Thank you so much for the great post again! I just start to use M.A.C Studio Fix Foundation. I have tryed to find one good too and I have noticed the same thing that most of the foundations clog the pores. So thank you so much for this tip, I will try to find Aveda also. It might help me too!! Thank you π And by the way, your english is perfect!

Thank you Zuzka I will check it out. To some of the other commenters – Aveda, Clinique, MAC, and Lush (I think) are all owned by the EstΓ©e Lauder company. So there may not be much difference between brands in terms of policies. A lot of it is just marketing. It’s empowering to be an informed consumer.
And now to my especially empowering Z workouts. Love them so much, keep up the good work! Thank you : )

Hi Z!!
This post makes my heart happy because I have been using Aveda hair products for over 10 years and I absolutely love it! I have tried many other products and let me tell you, NOTHING even comes close to comparing. I have thick black long hair and it absolutely loves Aveda. Right now I am using their new line ‘dry remedy’ after being highlightes for the summer and then the cold cold weather has dried out my hair. I stopped wearing make up about 2 years ago to work on loving my myself for who I am, but wanted to get back into wearing at least a little. Thank you for your review on the Aveda make up line. I just got my hair done last Tuesday at Aveda and was looking at their make up thinking I was going to give it a try and now I think this was the little push I needed.
p.s. I have lived in the states my entire life and you speak better English than 80% of the Americans here. English is a very hard language and most words have multiple meanings and not to mention all the slang every city has. I only speak louzy English and I only wish I new another language.
Hugs from Utah,
<3 xoxo
