Style, Fit, Performance, Quality - Fit Fashion For Your Consideration
Fashion & Beauty | August 12, 2015
What’s the most important things you consider when it comes to buying fitness apparel? Are you someone who buys cheap and doesn’t care because you’ll just get sweat stains on it and throw it away or do you take pride in your apparel and use cute workout clothes to sometimes help motivate you to get a good workout in?
I personally love new workout clothes and as I continue to work on my upcoming clothing line, I have given a lot of thought about the most important factors to consider when shopping for workout stuff. For me, I think it’s (in no particular order) the style, the fit, quality of material and performance.
When it comes to style and performance, some stuff looks really cute but when you actually work out in it, the button clasps come undone or the pants ride up your butt or the ties dangle in your way. When you consider quality of material you don’t always get what you pay for, I’ve bought stuff online from smaller boutique places, with a high price tag, but then when you get it, the material feels cheap and you know you’ll only be able to wash it like 5 times, if that, before you have to throw it away. Some Lorna Jane and lulu stuff I’ve had forever and I love it. It lasts through a million washes and I feel like it gets better with age, so sometimes it’s worth the price in my opinion. The fit is important too because clothes that are flattering, and you feel good in, help with confidence and make you want to wear them more often.
Here is some stuff I got recently, check it out and let me know what you think!
This is my new outfit from Titika. I think the bra is interesting because it looks more like a crop top. I’m not sure how much functional support it offers though, given that I don’t really need any support (my situation upstairs doesn’t really move much haha), so keep that in mind if you’re a lady that needs that extra support, then this bra may be better for fashion than function.
I like shape and style of the pants, and I think they do look really good, but the material is not the best of quality and it catches every hair, and every dust particle that you touch so if you have pets like me, you won’t be wearing them around the house unless you’re willing to spend some time cleaning the pants with the sticky roller. Also they do wrinkle quite a bit.
I like the way the bra looks in the back, however you can’t adjust the straps. The pants look cute with the back pockets and the buttons didn’t even bother me when I did my workout in them.
The back of the bra does look really good, don’t you think?
Here’s my new outfit from Elisabetta Rogiani, who I had the pleasure to meet in person. She’s an Italian designer based in L.A. who has created clothing lines for some of the leading fitness models and her apparel has been featured numerous times on the front covers of all the big fitness magazines. She’s crazy passionate and gave me some great ideas I can implement in my own clothing line and for that I’m thankful!
If I can give you an advice, do not get shorts with such a short inseam because you can’t workout in them. These look really great on pictures, but If I do a squat in them, you can see half of my rear end and I have to constantly be pulling them down, it’s distracting. The magic number for an inseam that will allow you to exercise without worrying about showing your butt is 3 inches. I would totally wear this outfit if I had an important photoshoot, but I had to get another pair of shorts from her that I can actually wear in my workouts.
This outfit is from a newer brand called YogaSmoga. The best thing about it is that it’s really comfortable to workout in. I like the material a lot but as far as the fit goes, the shorts are not very flattering for my butt, however the inseam is just right where I don’t have to keep pulling them down after a set of squats or burpees. You can see this outfit in action in my latest Arm Balance yoga workout.
The bra feels really good, it’s got a mesh material inside to help vent boob sweat and I like the shape of the top, but I’m not crazy about the design and the colors. I can’t explain what exactly it is that makes me feel that way… This outfit is really functional for my workouts because it does feel really good on your body, but it’s not my favorite style. It might just not be right for my body type, maybe I would like it better if I were taller! 😉 hahah

Hi!
I was just wondering, what does Zuzka mean when she said that se doesnt need so much support up there, like how is it possible? My boobs are probably smaller, and they bouce!!! Is there somthing that can be done to have them more stiff?
Please help me out!! 🙂

Zuzanna had breast augmentation surgery, then they do not really move and that’s why she doesn’t have the same support requirements.

There has to be a magical balance of style and function in sportswear. If a brand is the most efficient in the world but looks like rags, I won’t be using it.
However I do have some serious support requirements for the boob area – I don’t want anything to be moving in that department.
One of the most important things for me is probably the quality of the material. Some time ago I got a pair of pants from a brand that used to be reliable, however, they had changed the material they usually use to a much thinner variant. There was then stuff on display that you never ever want on display O.o

Performance is my number 1 concern. After had a temporary knee issue from jump roping with the wrong type of shoes and pants, I look at gym clothes no differently than the work out gear it’s self. I don’t care about sweat or looking rad at the gym. It’s about looking rad on the streets after all your hard world in the gym that matters 🙂

I’m so excited for you! You’re own clothing line will be amazing and I’ll definitely be one of the many ZWarriors to be first in line to get them. You’ve come along way and we’re cheering you on from the other side of our screens.

Yes about the inseam. I think that especially Nike makes unwearable sportshorts/tights. I bought two of them, they are hell expensive, but you can’t actually use them for working out our running because the don’t fit right.
As for sport bras, I think they neeed to have broad straps and in general rather more than less fabric. The pink one you are wearing looks comfortable. Also, they SHOULD be able to be opened and closed, I erroneusly bought a sports bra that can’t be opened but must be put on with the head and the arms through and it is awful! (How do they think that something that has to be tight is put on comfortable this way? I don’t get it.)

I love fit and function as well as not over paying, although I’m willing to pay a higher price for higher quality. I don’t, however, like paying a higher price just for the brand name. Surprisingly my favorite sports bras currently are from Target. They’re for high impact, which is great for all of your workouts, but my most favorite function is that they hook in the back like a bra. Why don’t more sports bras do this?? One of my least favorite things to do is trying to maneuver a tight and sweaty bra over my head after a workout so I can shower. So being able to just unhook and take it off like a regular bra is a godsend!!

Quality and style are important to me when it comes to fitness apparel. Unless I have a reason to dress up I am in yoga pants and a sports top. I like mesh in my sports bras but I always take out those cup things in them, I spend to much time trying to adjust them than it is worth. Fit is important but I think a good fit is also an indication of good quality. Speaking of sports bras has anyone tried the new ones from Victoria secret with the front closure?

I really like the first bra ! Good sport clothes are often too expensive for me ! Even if i would like some new sport clothes with style and more comfortable, i try to convince myself that the most important si what you do not what you wear!!! Good sportwear involve performances too, thats why It could be good to spend some money in sometimes !

They look really good on you and I like your outfits. But like you said, your upper part moves not that much. I have big natural boobs and it’s nearly impossible to find clothes who hold all together and are comfortable. I have always to wear a very expensive sports bra plus one of the tops you are wearing. And even then I have the feeling everything is falling out 🙁 Really disapointed about that nobody can make workout clothes for women like me.
