Aren’t you happy it’s Friday?? I couldn’t seriously do a longer workout today. We’ve been moving to our new home since the 15th and for the past 2 days we’ve been cleaning the old house and making sure everything is in order. I think we’ll be recovering from the move for the entire weekend. It’s good to do a short workout just to get the blood flowing and get some energy tho. The Keto diet has helped me to stay sane and keep a good sustainable energy, however I am going to bail out tonight, because all I can think of is wine and crackers. I’m not even ashamed to admit that I need a glass or two (or three) to celebrate that the craziness around the move is over. I’m also looking forward to eat a whole bunch of cherries that I’ve been drooling over in the store like a drug addict every time we went there.
Btw, how is your arm balance practice going? Are you ready for a new challenge on Sunday? I’m wondering because I’m seeing great progress and I haven’t been even doing the full arm balance workouts every day. I feel pretty confident that I will be able to go from Crow to Headstand and back to Crow fluently. We have two more days to get better! XO Z
Workout Breakdown
1. Lunge to push up knee tuck combo x 6 alternating legs
2. One arm Kettlebell Swing x 10 alternating arms
3. Jump Lunge Kick up x 6

My experience with keto was feeling tired and hungry all the time. And craving bread and fruits. 🙂

did you fight it though or gave up Chris? I don’t eat bread at all and I feel sooo good without it, a bread lover i was but not even a hint of craving!! but no fruit – no life for me im afraid 🙂

I have an active life and can’t be tired all the time. So I stopped.

Gonna do this workout tomorrow morning! Probably twice. I think I’m going to do pendulums instead of one-arms. 🙂 Maybe one arm pendulums. I just looooooooooove pendulums.
Good for you, Z. I think it’s totally unnecessary to be in a state of ketosis all the time. Life is about balance. Other than the Inuit and probably a handful of other historical peoples, I highly doubt that people purposely avoided non-ketogenic foods all year round. A relatively small indulgence in something once in a while, I feel, still mimics patterns. We’re also human: we manipulate and create. Nothing wrong with that. It’s not hard to get back into ketosis if you so choose. Why not enjoy yourself with wine and crackers and cherries.
I have also been eating ketogenic. I read the book Keto Clarity and just finished the Cantin Ketogenic Diet. Even after reading this literature, I still feel it is unnecessary to be in ketosis all the time, unless you are treating a medical condition. Our bodies adapted to handle the slight inflammation caused by glucose. I think it is when we have a constant influx of sugars and carbohydrates (breaking down into glucose), especially at the high levels that are encouraged by the USDA food pyramid and food industry, that we have high inflammation and problems. A small amount of some seasonal fruit, some wine, a bit of quinoa or rice here and there, once and a while is HARMLESS.
That said, I am really enjoying not eating grains. I did let myself eat a small serving of quinoa (not a grain, but a seed) a few days ago. I was fine. I’m happy with my high fat, moderate protein, and plenty of veggie diet. 🙂 I’m feeling waaaaaay less tense in my muscles and seem to have lasting energy all day. Then again, I’d been naturally eating pretty low carb for a few years anyway, so the transition is fine. Plus, I love eggs and avocados. This diet is cake.

Kept up with Zu, 3 Rounds I think? Completed 4 of the lunge/push-up combo of round 4.
Question for those of you with HRMs, I don’t seem to burn nearly as many calories as most of you. Typically burn like 50cals for a 5min workout. Is that normal? I have Polar ft60, so I’ve set it up using the fitness test feature (VO2max), etc.

Hi Tina
10 cals per minute sounds pretty good! I use the Polar H7. The calorie burn isn’t just based on heart rate, but also on your weight, age and gender. My calorie burn is also pretty low compared to some on here (in the last benchmark workout I averaged 92% of my max heart rate and still burned fewer than 10 cals per minute!), but I’m petite and my maintenance calories aren’t that high anyway.

So, I did this for 10 minutes today. I have no idea how many rounds I did. Oops. It was just so fun that I didn’t care. Whatever. It got me sweaty! I did one arm pendulums with my 35 lbs kb.
I ended it with my own “buy out” of 20 (2-arm)pendulum to regular kb swings.
I friggen loooooooove these combos!!
These workouts jazz me up and prep me for my day. They get my metabolism up, and I feel warm the rest of the day. Love it.
